PSE Costs... food for thought ...

Hello all -

I suppose this is a long-winded thank you. I've been a part of this forum for quite some now, and I have learned much in my time here. Thought I might give a little insight into how helpful you all are. Not long ago I decided to make the upgrade to PSE, so I started doing my homework ...

Step 1: Call Dealership in Toronto to ask about pricing/availability/labor costs.
Step 2: Find out they want $2900 CDN for the part + 4-5 hrs. labor.
Step 3: Hang up and start laughing at how rediculous that is.
Step 4: Visit Suncoast Porsche & discover part at $1795 USD + $50 to ship.
Step 5: :D and  ... because you now know how much $$ your friends at 986forum saved you ... all by using the magic "search" thread.

I have no affiliation with Suncoast but just thought I'd mention the difference in prices and say that a little digging goes a long way. I would love to hear from anyone with PSE about your experience, positive or negative ...

I Love the PSE

I got mine from Suncoast for the price you mentioned and had a local shop that specializes in Porsche maintenance and repairs install it. They charge $200.

The sound is very pleasing to the ear in the sport mode. I thought it would be a nice feature to be able to have it "normal" and then louder but find y wife even tells me to put it in that mode.

Want a ever better price? Call Sunset Imports. www.****************************************************.com

I love the sound of my PSE, but found shifting smoothly somewhat difficult when in the sport mode. So this weekend I did the hack and disconnected the vacuum hose for permanent nirvana.

Do any of you notice much of a performance difference? Years ago I asked my dealer about it and was told "you don't get very much performance increase and for that kind of money and it would be better spent with an aftermarket system".
Ken
also, how do you add a photo, there is an insert picture button but then a box comes up which says ,

Love my PSE. :)
No HP gains.
Bought at Sunset Porsche, saved a boat-load. :D
Gave the savings to the dealership who did the install.

I have my OEM Boxster S exhaust for sale. Make me an offer.

Dang! That is pricey. Sunset Porsche in portland (mentioned above) quotes the following for the sensor...

Retail $387.36 - $621.36
SUNSET PRICE: $258.37 — $414.45
