Has anyone upgraded to the 550 all-red tail light

I'm upgrading my 01 rear lights to get rid of the that darn orange...torn between the 03-04 red / clear combo and the full red anniversary 550 style. anyone with pics or experience? my car's white.

I am not into that kind of cosmetic stuff, but I do have the clears on my silver since they were given to me.

I am on the UK and German Boxster boards. Their special edition has the 2003/4 clear tail lights, not red like in North America. Seems their turn signals are not allowed to flash red. Thought it was strange Porsche would have made a special light just for our market.

dig your wheels...

I'm looking for something new to do with my wheels. those are nice.

I think the clear white would look better on your car, they even have a smoked one. Get the rear clear with the smoked one part and get the smoked front side blinkers.

phrankandbeanz 11-16-2004 05:32 PM

ill try to post a pic

FUHRIUS 11-16-2004 07:36 PM

are you talking about one where the whole thing is clear, or are you suggesting the clear / red one? please send a link or pointer if you can too...I think the smoke color ones would be sweet, as long as they're not too darth vader black looking.
'cause I'm also looking for some grey or dark wheel option for it as well.

thanks

Man, just don't get anything that looks like the Altezza (Lexus IS300) diamond bling clears. Those hurt my eyes. :barf:

Tool Pants 11-18-2004 01:46 AM

Like this?

FUHRIUS 11-18-2004 07:08 AM

are those the altezza's?

it's a unique look...but probably not what I'm into. I just want to get rid of the orange stuff...I think the car will look much better without the added color. is that your car (the black one?)

Toolpants - San Jose? me too.

btw, I posted add'l pics and ffull rundown of mods on another thread at:

just got quote on a smoked pair...$599!!! ouch. I'm definitely leaning toward the stock 03-04 type now...they're only $275 (and I already feel guilty spending that much judt for different colored lights)

Tool Pants 11-18-2004 04:17 PM

Do not know what you consider smoked lights, but your quoted prices are way too high.

mrmickeymouse 11-18-2004 05:12 PM

You can smoke your own lense[s].

my bad on the price

the price for the stock 03-04 lights is only $175, not $275, sorry (from suncoast porsche). the $599 was a quote I got from auto atlanta on some smoked ones.

does you buddy still have any of those sets left to sell?
those all-smoked ones are pretty cool...but might be too darth vader-like on my white car.

any other ideas on places to buy these things? I'm also looking for some a silverguard cover and little porsche do-dads like valve stem covers, key fobs and such.

and how do you smoke you own?

The picture of the lights were taken by Henry in San Jose. He still has the all black tinted and 1/2 black. He also has the Lexus style. You can find him on renntech.org as HenryV.
