34, bought it new when I was 32....I've had more to love since I was in preschool so it really has nothing to do with the aging process....

so I played HS football....our star RB went on to play College Ball fell short of the pros.....guy was built like a specimen...

dropped dead in the hallway of his condo complex at about 31.....really got me thinking that I should enjoy my time here.....enter boxster

bmx672 04-28-2008 04:12 PM

I bought my 2000 last year at 38. I had a 944 Turbo for a couple years before that to get my feet wet.

I love my plates "PSHN 40" But I'll need to change them next year to "PSHN 45" haha.

I have the same feelings as super66 about life... I don't want to be 70 thinking, "man, I shoulda woulda coulda"

Im 18..and I guess i live up to the stereotype of moding my car in anyway I can..seats,exhaust, intake, shifter, paint this, paint that, fix this, fix that, stereo, speakers, yada yada yada

Yep bmx672 and Super66, my sentiments too. Enjoy the Pcar now while you can still shift gears and enjoy the flat 6 like Dr P designed.

Cheers :)

im one of the younger members of this forum -- just turned 18 in feb.

I absolutely hate that expression 'midlife crisis'. My decision to get a boxster had nothing to do with age. I thought , life is tooo short. After years of saving and being responsible I came to the conclusion that our time here is so short you have to enjoy it. If not now , then WHEN ? BTW I'm 50 and workout regularly. I bet I could run circles around %90 of today's teenagers and their 'couch potato behavior'. Enjoy your boxster, father time catches up with ALL of us.

Im 27 . The reason I got mine was simple ..... Reaserch... I finally found a car that 1. was affordable [kinda}

Heres what i bought....

jonnycool 04-28-2008 08:09 PM

i can't understand how you 18-20 year olds can afford the insurance on this type of car?!?! in the UK if an 18 year old who was actually able to get insurance for it would cost him around $10000-$15000....i'm not joking, a 1000cc car would cost you $1000, our boxster cost $1000 for me and the wife and we've turned 40

Jeph 04-28-2008 09:11 PM

18 - '03 Dodge Neon SXT
21 - '05 Kawasaki Ninja 636 (first vehicle I purchased)
21 - '97 Porsche Boxster (2nd vehicle I purchased)

Fun game. I'm 26. While I can't yet claim anything Italian or otherwise exotic, I'm working to ensure that my list stays respectable (I had a slight indiscretion at 21 years old, but I've since rectified the situation). Always paying cash for my cars has kept my list a lot more down to earth than it would otherwise be. :-)

16: 86 535i
18: 88 325ic
19: 93 325i
20: 95 M3
21: 03 Jetta
22: 97 Box

I don't see why it's relevant whether a person drives a Boxster at 25 or 55. Very few people that I've ever known are in a position that they absolutely COULD NOT afford a new Box/911. So, it's more about priorities, which shift back and forth through one's life. When I was in high school and college, my car was my biggest concern. Now that newly I'm married, I focus a lot of money on paying off my house, travel, and saving for retirement; hence, I haven't bought a new car in 4 years (which as you can see is quite out of character for me). I can guarantee that once my wife and I pay off our house in a few years, I'll be buying another toy. May be a 911, may be a new Chris Craft, maybe an island house on Lake Winnipesauke. Regardless, at some point in my life, I'll spend significantly more on another impractical toy car with no roof, and to say "oh, he just owns that because he's XX years old" would be grossly inaccurate.

Well my insurance is even less than alot of people I know, I get an insurance discount for having a good GPA in school, as well as doing countless cost-reducing classes and videos. Plus my record is clean...

OFB, Old Fat & Bald, been fifty for a couple of years, no mid-life crisis just ongoing immaturity. Owned my first P-car at 21, several since, have a 986 because it was a sunny friday and it was yellow, been dying on the depreciation curve since. For fun I drive my 911, for work I use the 986, they are all just cars.

I just got my bill from my insurance company with my premium readjusted after I added my Boxster. It seems to have gone up at least $50/month. I'm 35 years old, no at-fault accidents ever, been with State Farm since I was 15, and I don't think there are any tickets still on my record at all. This is the most my insurance has gone up for any car I've ever owned. I don't think it was even this high when I had two cars before (Explorer and Lexus SUV). Guess this one's just in a higher risk class or something. I know it's worth more, but come on, not that much more!
