I will be there Saturday doing parking from 10:30 to 12:30. I wish I could do both days but that's not possible with work right now.

I would love to go. Do I need to sign-up or register ahead of time and pay a fee? I don't mind paying at all I just need to know what the process is.

No fee, you just show up and you have to sign a release form. Let me know what time you may be getting there. Maybe we can all arrange to meet at the same time and put some faces with the emails. I will probably park up top and walk down to the paddock as I imagine parking in the paddock proper will be at a premium. Our region is hosting a hospitality tent for our members so I will probably be there off and on as I tend to move around and watch the race from different vantage points.

Chris, are you going to be parking at the infield area? We are planning to arrive around the time you will be working so we may see you then. How much driving access will be in the paddock area as sometimes we drive down and drop off stuff then come back up top to park for the day.

PCA membership...

...required as it is a Porsche Club event. The form you sign is a insurance release form.

I have been a PCA member for a little over two years now. I am looking forward to when I can participate in a PCA DE event at Lime Rock. Watch the club racing I guess is the next best thing. Is there a parking area where PCA members and/or 986forum members will be parking? What is the HVR tent? How early should I get there?

Thanks,
Steve

I really don't know yet. I suspect I won't find out till that morning.

Steve, I imagine all will park at the top lot if you are not a participant. There would be no way to park all 986formum cars together unless we had a dedicated parking agent to direct the operation. No one wants to stay up in the lot waiting for the next car to show up so park where you can.

The Hudson Valley Region tent is for our region members as a courtesy from Advanced Auto and the region. Since I will be there off and on it would be a good place to make first contact then we could agree on a time to meet say at the food tables at the beginning of the paddock or up in the lot near the cars.

Rain may be a factor. If it is only threatening I will drive the Boxcar, if it is pouring I may not go at all . We will see so pray for sun on sat.

Allen, I've never been to Lime Rock before. I should use the Main Gate entrance at 60 White Hollow Road right?

Sorry to get back to you after the fact. I hope you made it over OK. It turned out to be a beautiful day after all and we returned home with the top down. We had put it up last night in anticipation of the rain predicted by our green friends at the weather channel. How these folks get off telling us what the temp of the earth will be in 10 yrs when they cannot predict what will happen a day in advance is beyond me, but I digress.

Nice to see some Boxsters on the track and listen to those raspy exhaust tones. Did not meet anyone from this board but did see a lot of nice 986 machines in the lower paddock along with a line of Caymans. Since we were also invited by Danbury Porsche to do some parade laps I took advantage and drove the Cayenne S on the track. Good Grief! The torque in that is astonishing. I tapped the throttle and it took off on me. We were restricted in how fast we could go but this monster was ready to hustle on sport setting. I haven't been on the track in years but it came right back to me and I wish I could have pushed a little more.

Our hospitality tent was nice and it was good to see some old friends. The next event we will be attending at Lime Rock will be the ALMS race in July. Until that time I hope to eventually meet some of you, perhaps at one of the Bear Mtn. Wed night meets this summer?

Hi Allen, I did make it to Lime Rock and I had a great time. I had never been there before or to any track before. I love the lay out at Lime Rock where you can walk around on the grassy hills and watch the racing or tour the Paddock. I look forward to my next opportunity to visit again.

I did not get there until about 2:45 PM because I had to go to a Parkinson's Disease fund raising event in Central Park NYC with my wife. She is a Speech Pathologist who specializes in working with people who have had head injuries including Iraq war vets, Stroke victims, and people with Parkinsons. We didn't get out of there until about noon and then got a little lost trying to find Lime Rock. My Google Map directions were really bad. They were actully wrong in places where they told me to make a right where it was impossible to do so and then a left where I actually needed to go right. But I have to say that it is a pleasure to get lost in the area within a 20 mile radius of Lime Rock. I want to go back up there just to drive around. Especially on that River Road that winds along the River on my way home. Thanks for getting me to go in the first place.

Steve

Steve, that is what this Forum is all about, getting together and sharing. I know we will meet at some point and again I am excited about attending one of the summer Bear Mtn. Wed night events. We will all stay posted and I am glad you had a good time. Good thing your GPS didn't tell you to turn right into the river.... ;)

I would love to go to that summer Bear Mtn event. Is there a calendar where these events are listed? I know I can find the PCA Club racing and DE events on the PCA site. Man I'd love to try that club racing but unfortunately I most likely never will for two reasons.

1. Budget. Too expensive a hobby.
2. Wife. Says she will divorce me if I do it. She thinks I will get hurt and end up as a head injury patient.

I told her I bet the incidents of serious injury in club racing is probably statistically smaller than my chances of getting seriously hurt on the public roads and highways.

As soon as we find out the schedule we will post it on this forum. We can then announce what nights we would be going so as to be able to meet up with other forum members.

Allen

ps if anyone else knows when and other particulars please post.
