Cool Just picked up my 2003 Boxster S!!!

Pics to come!

Had one question. Its missing one of the little caps that covers the hole where the rocker buttons are on the dash controls. Like the defrost, top retract, ect..

What is that part called? Where would be the best place to get one?

Thanks! And I'm excited to join such a fantastic community!

Welcome to the Forum.

The best place it pick one up is probably from Sun Coast Porsche or Sunset Porsche. They will probably have the best prices.

The parts arent very expensive so you probably would be better off just going to a local dealer and picking on up.

mileage? price paid? Was it the first Boxster you looked at in person?
How old are you? if you say anything below 21 you are on probation for 90 days and you must paypal each forum member a dollar.

Aren't we all? There is no question that Porsche puts some really cheap plastic bits into the Boxster. Drive it for a little while and see if something else breaks (like the cup holders, etc.). Then you can buy lots of little (expensive) doohickies.

Congrats on the car (and don't sweat the small stuff)!

On behalf of the Dallas members: Welcome!

Add some some clear side markers to your shopping list. They make a big difference.

just saw this thread (after i already sent you a PM)... the missing switch blank confirmed it *IS* the car i test drove before deciding on mine...

i had a PPI done (cost me $185) and ended up not buying the car but here are some pieces of info for you:

* driver side tail light has a small crack in it.. hard to see, but wiht texas sun might get worse

* passenger (cant remember if it's front or rear?) brake caliper scraped all to hell because when they replaced the brake pads the shop broke off the bleeder screw, and when they put a new one in (one taht didn't match and is the wrong size, looks to be tapped to a bigger hole), they scraped up the red paint/coating on the calipers

* LOTS of rust on the underside, especially exhaust area... that car was born up north and spent a lot of time up there per the carfax

* there was a coolant leak as well, dropping coolant right near the passenger tire.. the PPI guy said most likely it was something in regards to seals around the coolant fill area in the trunk... open it up, pull out the top level of covers/whatever and see if there's dried coolant or whatnot... keep an eye on your temps

* dash blank switch missing

* no center caps on wheels (when i was looking at least?)

That was nice of you to share that info! Thats why I like this forum. Now that guy knows what hes up against.. If he has a 1 month warranty, he might could get it fixed.

i doubt they'll do anything... the price on that car was SMOKING... i just didn't want to hassle with anything and ended up finding a car wiht a porsche pre-cert warranty... i tried to have them meet me partway for some of the things to be taken care of (new exhaust, concession for brake issues, pay diagnostics for coolant leak) and they wouldn't budge a penny..

he gave the price he paid and that was their asking price... and honestly it was more than a good deal even with the issues (hey, not many cars are "perfect")

it's a beautiful car, beautiful color... the interior color was very different but neat and the car drove strong... you couldn't tell it was a dark navy unless yo uwere told or in direct sunlight...

hope to see you at the ricekiller meets! we'll be scheduling a dfw boxster photoshoot with a local photographer once the weather gets less nasty

Excellent choice, Sloan - especially the color!
