Spyder RS60 Top

I bought my wife a '08 RS60 with a black, as my dealer ordered all of his in black stating that they keep up better. I am looking for a red top. Before going to the dealer and buying a new one I wanted to see if there were any RS60 owners who have a red top and would prefer a black one instead?

If you are possibly interested in an exchange please PM or e-mail me.

Thanks,

Dominic

Do you have any pics? I'd like to see it with a black top.

Dominic, you bought your wife an RS60? What did you do?

Congrats, you win the "Husband of the Year Award" for 2008.

Beautiful car.

hmmmmmm, all the pics I currently have are with the top down:

the only shot I have found is from the PCA website from the Chesapeake region. If you go to this link and look at the fifth picture from left you can see her Boxster from the rear with the top up.

http://pcachs.org/photos_and_movies/2008/tour_cozy_inn_gg/index.html

if you don't know the new PSE from the rear and clear third brake light or the different front facia or recognize the black front windwhield frame it looks like any other GT silver Boxster. Even the back says Boxster S, only on the door sill does it say Spyder RS60.

Personally, I like the black top better. It won't show dirt as well, won't fade as quickly (and the red will turn PINK!) and overall looks better on the car, IMO.

Schwabe, you really don't like the black? From that picture it looks awesome.

It has nothing to do with not liking the black top, obviously we just bought the car despite the top.

It is just a special car with a special color theme that offers a special top color and we think it would make it more unique.

By the way the car is packed with standard features, which you would not know if you didn't see it in person.

just a few:

full leather
sport seats
sport steering wheel
Sport Chrono
PASM
new PSE
19' SD
Auto climate
Aluminum shifter
clear third brake light
new front facia
5 mm spacers front and rear
windstop

Already in the works, at the very least it will get a red "RS". Ken at bumperplugs is looking for a Spyder decal. He said he cannot do a 60 as there is no "0" in Porsche lettering. I have seen others who had their decal made, such as 986 etc but I have not found a place online to do that.

Hey there, I saw you guys talking about this. There is a place that can do custom names/badges using the Porsche font. It is not cheap, ($680, for the spelling of Spyder) but will look factory perfect once it's done. There is the web site. http://www.nameyourporsche.com/

He will be able to do a 0 from the 9 in 911. I have it made but on my home computer. Basically take the 9 and make it into a 6. Then use the shape of the 6 and make it into a 0. The one I made looks OEM. Or find a RS60 logo and re trace it into the computer using illustrator.

Congrats and the car and I applaud you for not being afraid to mod the car - don't try to keep things the way they are just because you might sell it one day...do it up the way you like it!

I think a Red top would look good as long as it is close the interior color, or get the windows tinted real dark so you cannot see in.

Speaking of the Red interior, I love it; however, I have a Black interior in my '08 Boxster S (Guards Red ext.). I am replacing the airbag/center section with the one from the RS60 to break it up - too much of one color. And I am also thinking about putting in a Red emergency brake and shift knob as well abeit I will probably have to buy them since I doubt I'll get any trade offers.

Good luck though and to me, too!

The RS also comes with peinted center comsole and seat backrests, which brakes it up a bit. I had mine (in my CS) painted at bumperplugs for a core exchnage, as well as the rear cargo and seat belt covers and the upper door finishers. Looks great and is a lot cheaper then have the parts done by Porsche.

I see that was the Cozy Inn tour. My wife and I were there. If you are going to the AA Co. tour, we would like to introduce ourselves. We have a '02 black Boxster.

Great Dominic, I see part of your tag, so I will have something to look for. We have Vietnam Veteran tags, and I don't recall seeing any others. So we will see you there.

I don't know...here's a red top and it doesn't do a lot for me; it is definately different, though. As always, you should follow what your emotions dictate. That's why we enjoy these cars as much as we do and have so many different variations.
