Hood Crest Fastener nut size ..again!

I bought the 10mm tool to remove the nuts on the hood crest and it is way too big. I can return the tool for the right size but what IS the right size? 9mm, 8mm ??? Any buddy have an accurate answer?

On my 67 911 and 68 912 I used surgical tubing to secure the crest and the porsche lettering on the rear deck. It made it extremely easy to remove the emblems from the inside when detailing the car and yet somewhat difficult to remove if you were to pry the lettering up from the outside. If someone were determined to steal the insignia I would rather have them do it relatively easily and not mar the paint...

Hey, just buy a set - you'll be amazed the uses you find... and they're cheap -

If you have even the most basic metric socket & wrench set you should be able to find the right one with trial & error within three try's.
