best tire fit for 18x8.5 & 18x10

Hi gurus,
im getting mixed answers from different people about what tire size i should be getting for my 2002 986. would you post your thoughs on this ?

my rims are
fronts : 18x8.5 offset 52
rears : 18x10 offset 58

On a 18x8.5 I would go with a 225/40/18

On the 18x10 I would go with 285/30/18

These are both OEM Porsche Tire sizes.

On your set of wheels though your rears WILL require spacers. The ideal offset for an 18x10 wheel on the rear of the Boxster is 42mm-45mm. There is no way a 18x10 58mm will fit.

I'm thinking 225/40 is on the skinny side for 8.5 in wheels. I would go 245's imo or 235's. 245's might cause clearance issues in the front though.

what offset were your rear wheels (as described in your avatar) ?

Front 18x8.5 is 54mm

Rear 18X10 is 48mm. With 48mm in the rear there were no clearance issues HOWEVER just for precaution & looks I put on the OEM 5mm spacers. So now my rear is a 43mm and it fits perfectly with a 285/30/18 tire.

looks like i'll go with a 10 mm spacer on the rears, that should put me to 48.
do you think i'll need to replace the lugnuts, or is it still goin to be safe with the ones i have right now ?

Definitely will require longer wheel bolts. Honestly I think you would be better off with 12mm spacers rather than 10mm.

Just to be on the safe side.
