One-off GTB 3.6, Boxster/911 GT3

Has anyone picked up the new PORSCHE EXCELLENCE Magazine? There is a cool article about a Boxster that was gutted and had the engine and many other parts converted to a 911 GT3. It's insane! 360 Hp! Sorry I don't have pictures. Pick yours up today to see this cool ride.

Oh yeah!! I've been hoping to see that one for a while.

I've been asking for awhile if it could be done, putting a GT3, TT, or other non-Box motor into our cars, and everyone said no. The engine space is too small, no room for this,or that... Then I get get my new issue of Excellence mag, and ..POW!!! there it was....sick to say the least!!!! Only thing was he paid almost twice as much for the conversion as a real GT3.

Paid twice as much, but now has one wicked mid engine porsche with better handling than the GT3 with GT3 power, no?

How annoying,

Why do I pay a subscription to Excellence when I don't get it at home before Newstands? Oh well, I am working more late night shifts this weekend and I can read it when I cannot sleep.

Hmmm.... twice the price of a GT3? You guys mean about 214,000 dollars or so? 360HP you say?

I'd rather have the Ruf 3400K. There is a nice write up about the Dentist's light blue metallic Cayman S in the November issue of Excellence. It is a supercharged 3.4 so it has great torque (which our cars frankly lack) down low and pulls strong to the rev limiter. 400bhp at 7,000 RPM and 325 lb-ft of torque at 5500 RPM. It probably does not sound or pull nearly as hard as the GT3 engine at the limit but at 78,100 Euros (with the current exchange rate) $121,590 US sounds like a deal to me. (the Cayman/Coupe version costs nearly 5,000 Euros more).

I'm wondering where you read that he paid twice as much as a new GT3. I know he said it was more than a new one, but I didn't see the "twice as much" part. However, I'm sure a major chunk of the cost was in the body mods he did. The rear was widened to fit 11" rims with 295 30/19 tires, the side scoops were totally reworked, and he had a yacht company in the UK build him a custom CF hood. On top of all that, the car he started with was a 97-99 2.5. I'm thinking it could be done just as well for substantially less than the cost of a 997 GT3.

"twice the price of a GT3"

I read the article last night. It ended with a comment that he spent just as much and possibly more than the cost of a new GT3. Not twice the price as I recall.
