True 0-60 time

I have read that Porsche has deliberately understated the 0-60mph time. Has anyone here taken the car to the trak and actually timed it? What is the reading for stock Boxster and Boster S?

I've got an '06 S and all I can say is whether it's 4.9 secs or 5.1 hold on to the steering wheel because it's scarry fast.

a 99 base at 5.5? that's faster than what is published for the 05 base....and just a hair slower than the 05 S'.......

you got a turbo in there we should know about

as far as understating, I read the reviews on the 05's and they said they had to really push the car to get to the published times by Porsche and wouldn't recommend driving it that way....I believe it was a test on the base model....

From my memory my best 0-60 based on a g-tech for timing was 5.1
It probably can go faster, I dont do many hard launches in my car. If I would practice more I think I can lower that time based entirely in getting the turbos to spool up better at the launch.

Mine is a 99 with a 2.5.

I think there is something special under the hood, It does make a whistle noise sometimes when I let off the gas. I think thats a blow off valve or something.

Growing up the car magazines said how amazing Porsches are. Was I brainwashed? Somehow...I doubt it.

In any case the Boxster is not geared for quick 0-60 or quarter mile times.

It's geared much more for highway cruising, which is kind of annoying for around-town driving.

Did anyone try to get higher rated gears in their Boxster?
