2000Boxter oil
Regardless of cost what is the BEST oil for a 2000 Boxter2.7?

Porsche recommends Mobil 1 0W-40 or 5W-40.
RedLine, Motul, Amzoil, Royal Purple are all good oils and each has it's faithful, with plenty of documentation to back them up. Are any of them the BEST? Depends on who you ask - there's no shortage of varying opinions. Which is the best oil? That which is changed regularly between 7500-10,000 mi., or at least annually. Do that, using any of the oils listed above, and you're not at all likely to have any oil related problems for the life of the car. |
i would add
Torco, elf, Total, and lubro/liqui moly of those, I am going to use elf/total. |
There are many Porsche approved oils, not just Mobil 1. I am using Red Line 5W40 currently, and like it very much. Not "Porsche approved". I am going to try Mobil 1's 5w50 this year. It is the only Porsche approved 5w50. The only problem is that this oil is not sold in the USA. Canada has it. Road trip!

To my understanding, Red Line is the only type 5 synthetic out there. I use it and consider it to be the tops.
M1 is maybe a type 3 or 4, depending on who you believe. IMHO. |
