Raced a mustang GT
I was at a red light when a 2003-2004 Mustang Gt pulls up, he had a exhaust and a logo of a tunning shop on his car he, he was a teenager and he looked at me and smiled, so i deiced to race him. I launched the car, and was completely even with him until 3rd gear when he maybe gained less then a 1/4 length. Just wanted to share.
i was impressed that i was neck and neck with him.

pre 05' Mustang GTs aren't as fast as people think they are. So what if they have big v8 engines and sound like they all have straight pipes on.
The newer GTs are pretty fast though but still suck overall. We had one as a rental car for a week, nothing special. Darn thing feel like my Mom's Sonota handling wise,it's like trying to turn a boat.

I agree. Ive beaten Mustang GT's because they arnt that fast, these were the older body style ones, 90's-2000's.
Just watch out for the cobras and the supercharged ones. :P

Against the older ones the 'S' should go faster but not by alot. Assuming you had a manual transmission and he had an auto (which is what most people get) thats why it turned out almost neck to neck.
Him pulling a away from the 3rd gear and after is the reason of V8.

I have a 2006 Mustang GT as a work vehicle and I don't find it that much faster than my 2001 base model Box. Sure it has more horsepower and torque, but the thing feels like a tank compared to the Porsche. I have snow tires on the rear and with those on it does feel like you're driving a boat.

A few years back, when I was younger and more aggressive, a GT blew my doors off at highway speed, I was in my 944. I knew we were coming up on curves in a mile or two, so I shadowed closely behind, speed about 90. Once we arrived at said curves, I saw his taillights ignite, at that same moment, my accelerator was to the floor. I blew past him at 110 plus and swept the turn with ease. He tried the next mile or so to catch me but that wasn't happening. As another member mentioned, the sound of the Stang is sweet, but it is only a balanced sports car in the misguided minds of it's owners.

I'll admit that the new Mustangs look really cool. The Gt's have a big engine, that goes fast in a straight line, but the suspension in them suck. I test drove one and they drive like boats.
Next time try racing a Mustang on a track, and not in a straight line, and it will be an easy win.
