Drove past a Carrera Gt yesterday!

A yellow one heading south outside of Indy in I-65... I was returning to the Chicago area from the AMA Supercross race that was on Saturday night at the RCA Dome. (Which by the way was a ton of fun!)
I saw this yellow car from afar and sure enough as it got closer I knew it wasn't any ordinary car... wow... looked incredible. I've seen silver and black, the yellow looked pretty darn good.

When I picked up my Boxster S this past Friday there was a Silver one in the covered service/delivery area, about 20' away from mine. Great looking car and I felt a bit inferior picking mine up, until I got out on the road that is. But heck, I could buy about 6 Boxster S cars for the price of one of those!

The owner of a strip-club a few blocks down from my house owns a silver one. He also has a Cayenne Turbo.

On Sunday mornings when coming home from Church, we will often see one of his nice Porsches parked outside. Fortunately when passing by there, my wife knows me well enough that she understands the far-away look in my eyes and mild drooling have all to do with the cars, and not the establishment.

I do see another GT in the summers by my house as well... it's Rick Neilson from Cheep trick! Pretty cool...
There's a guy down the road with a Saleen S7 and two Hennessey Venom Vipers (as well as other cars). I see a 959 once in a while... I know they are not legal but I swear this is the real thing. A variety of Gallardos etc etc...
And I live out in the boonies! Literally... Boone County Illinois! haha. I wonder where all of these people get their $. I guess even small towns etc have their doctors, lawyers and such.

Bill Gates helped legalize the 959s a few years ago. I think there is some red tape and a limit on home many miles they can be driven.

But they can be driven on the road.

There was a Carrera GT at one of the DE's last summer and the sound of that thing accelerating up the main straightaway was incredible. You just kind of stood there in awe.

As a Christian brother, I urge you to visit this man and compel him to come to church with you. Of course, when you go inside and ask for the owner, you must keep your eyes squarely on the carpet at all times.

We need more CGT owners in church. It's missing something... more exotic Porsche owners. Yeah, that's what we need...

i remember going to hilton head island in south carolina and visiting the porsche dealer there. In the back i saw a black carrera gt under a cover and the manager took the cover off for me to drool.. as we started talking ( about a possible upgrade from my box to a gt ofcourse) he told me that the person buying it was kenn griffy jr.. the baseball player.. funny thing was that he has a house on the berrier island in florida a few miles away from where i go to school and i see that same car often.. the site never gets old

My company's President drives one. You see it all the time front and center in the parking deck. Its usually under a cover.

I found myself lifting the car cover back...just a little...just to see a little more... After doing this a little, I realized that I probably shouldn't be doing that.

If I ever see him out near the car (key in hand), I'm gonna ask him if I can take it for a spin. Just blurt it out. Hey, you never know if you don't ask.

My first sighting was a CGT parked on Milwaukee Avenue in Wicker Park late on a Sat. night. For those not familiar with the area it is an up and coming artsy/bohemian area, so not a lot of $400k+ vehicles parked on the street. I remember it was parked in between a Geo and a beat up Civic with the lower front bumper missing. I have no problem parking the Box on the street, but if I had one of those, I "wouldn't even drive it....I'd just rub it with a diaper."

I know that area... I can't believe someone parked it there... maybe they were in and out. I never understood how people can own cars like that in the city... you can hardly drive past 30mph. Status I guess...

Was it parked by Peace Pizza? That place ROCKS! The home brew and hand tossed pie... man...

It was parked just around the corner across the street from Pint, where I was sitting outside this fall. Never saw it move.

And yes, Piece is awesome, it's just down the street from me. On Sundays it is $25 for a large pie and a growler of beer, so once it gets warm outside it might be worth the trip for ya. I think you mentioned a CGT owned by a member of Cheap Trick. A member of Cheap Trick just so happens to be part owner of Piece pizza, I think the guitar player because they have the three headed ax on the wall. The CGT I saw was silver, maybe it was his?

I have seen 2-3 CGT's in the Chicago area.

-one at a Concours in Joliet at the speedway (with a matching 911)
-one downtown parked in the Viagra Triangle
-one on Dundee Road, not sure, but it looked Speed Yellow, and sounded like the CGT

Basically a large refillable ceramic jug.
 http://www.piecechicago.com/beer/index.html
The place is well worth the trip off the beaten path for anyone traveling to the Chicago area.

And to keep the thread on topic if you eat there you may just be making 1/1000th of a Carrera GT car payment for the co-owner!

Still waiting to see one. I can't believe I saw a Ferrari Enzo FXX before a C-GT. I'm envious of all who have seen one in real life.
