masking tape for preventing rock chips on track day

yup, its the blue tape.

what i find funny, is that people would take the car on the highway to the auto cross destination with nothing on it, and then put the blue tape while there....i mean cmon now, theres way more rocks that can fly up and hit ur car on the highway, than just you on the track...but ok, if that makes people sleep better at night.

i took my car to several autocross events, and trough 2 winters in chicago, and all i got is 2 tiny rock chips to show for it, none that came from autocross

Re: more rocks on the road vs. on the track: might be the case, but I'm trying to avoid all the "marble marks" too.

Unlike most autocross venues I've been on, the full size tracks typically have lots of rubber bits flying around at high speeds.

p.s.
If you have one of those magnetic numbers for your doors, place the blue tape under the numbers. A pesticide sprayer filled with water (obviously) from Home Despot also works to clean off the tires between laps.
