Muffler Tips

I was just wondering if it was possible or if anyone has cut off the oval exahust tip and welded on two round ones like on the S? Can it be done if so how much work would it take? I like the look of two round exhaust tips but I don't want to compromise the sound of the stock muffler.

u can get a S muffler pretty cheap on ebay, probably cheaper than getting tips and paying a shop to cut/veld or whatever...and install is very easy that you can do by yourself over the weekend

Not sure if it will work but I am going to be selling the chrome dual outlet exhaust tip off my '08 Boxster S when it gets here (soon I hope!). It merely bolts on/off in minutes albeit I am not sure what other years it will fit. Drop me a PM if you like or contact someone at Porsche parts to see if it will fit your car if it might be an option for you.

On my old 01S I had purchased an 03 exhaust with the nice larger tips and better sound for around 150 bucks if I remember correctly, The muffler swap was very easy.

well i'd like to do the samething. i have been told that if you find the right shop, they will do it. some shops have told me that they don't want to take the headache. i would not buy the tip on ebay...okay i did buy the tip on ebay, and it
was crap. it fit over my existing oval tip and had gaps on the side....it just fit over and looked awful. i never had it installed. if you can get someone to un-weld the tip from the muffler. you can probably, if i'm not mistaken put the 2003 oval thicker looking tip over the inside of the pipe attached to the muffler. this is your best bet. i also like one of the techeqipment double tips, oval over an oval. but too dam expensive....i can send you some pics...looks really nice. but again, best bet get that dam oval tip un-welded, and find the 2003 tip. this is the route i am taking.

I think something similar on this forum. He cut off the tip and welded on a dual tip. It looked pretty good, and I think it only cost him about $80-100.
