Intro : Boxster lover

Hi all

Im new to this web forum. (I just surfed on in).
My name is Shaz and I'm based in UK.

Im thinking about buying a Boxster by the end of the year,
it'll have to be a 2nd hand one, from say.. '99.

I thought Id join this forum since you guys seems to be genuine
Boxster enthusiasts, I very much enjoy the pics and movie
clips that you post. thanks!

I will be spending the next few months drooling over them.
If you have your own personal web site be sure to post links
so i can check them out.

Im still at the stage desciding between Boxster S or no S.
I'll spend this time to help me decide on various
features.

See you around!

Shaz

Welcome to the forum! You'll find lots of information here and elsewhere on the web and it is important to be informed especially if you are looking at used Boxsters.

In the used market, you set your price point and figure out what you can get. There are 3 different Boxsters (pre-2003), and it sounds like you will be looking at the first category:

97-99 Boxster with 2.5 liter engine
00-02 Boxster with 2.7 liter engine
00-02 Boxster S with 3.2 liter engine and other improvements

I don't think you'd be looking at an S unless it was unusually high mileage or some other factor--better to get a more pristine 2.5 liter Boxster because of maintenance concerns.

Sounds like you want to purchase in the fall/winter? Perfect for buying a convertible; you'll get your best deals at this time!

Do not get the 'S'

check out my post on the following thread:
http://www.boxsterforum.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=117

The 'S' has a mis-matched, bolted on 996 tranny and gear ratios the ruin the Boxster's otherwise perfect balance as found with the 2.7L. Your best bet is to get a MY2000+ 2.7L.
