Aston Martin, Ford GT impounded

Aston Martin, Ford GT impounded after high-speed race

It was right out of a James Bond movie.
A 2006 Aston Martin and a Ford GT racing down a highway, startling drivers as they weaved in and out of traffic at high speed.
But this was not an action movie -- it was the Trans Canada Highway Friday about 8:30 p.m. And now two expensive high performance cars are cooling off in an impound lot. ****
The drivers, who were pulled over by Saanich police outside the Red Lion Inn, are prohibited from driving for 15 days. They have also been issued violation tickets for driving without due care and attention, which carries a $368 fine.
A driver who called 911 was passed by the speeding cars as he came onto the Trans Canada Highway at Millstream Road. He watched them fly down the highway, until they were forced to slow down near the merge lane of the Old Island Highway. The sports cars twisted and turned through traffic lanes until they were free again to race down the highway into town. Stopped by a red light at Tillicum, both cars shot forward when the light turned green.
According to Saanich police, the driver of the GT did a brake stand, creating a large amount of smoke before it gained traction and tried to catch the Aston Martin. The driver of the GT also used a turn lane near Wal-Mart to pass on the right hand side.

I heard that they did 140 mph at one point, but that is rumor. The streets were wet. The cops must not have clocked them directly on this 6 mile jaunt or the penalties would have been worse. Impounded means only for 15 days, I'm told.

Anyway you look at it pretty stupid. Perfect recipe for death and destruction. People will never learn.

They should shoot the drivers, sell the cars and donate the money to charity.

Or at least revoke their licenses for 20 years.

The fine is a joke, in NY, a new excessive speed rule or words like that equals $1,200.00 tacked on to the normal fine and a ton of points too. Stories like this make me want to say....Thank god for my anemic, only good for 150, 2.5 no go showboat engine.. :D
