seat options

So my drivers seat is worn and I am looking at options? Best so far maybe $1000.00 to recover both seats in non-factory leather. So far looking for clean used seats in tan has proven difficult and more expensive. Do seats from other porsche models fit into the boxster? Its nice to benefit from everyones experience and knowledge.

So it costs around a 1000$ to recover the original seats? I was hopping for 500-600$ :( .

Has anyone ever recovered the seats? How satisfied was he/she with the outcome?

I am very interested in the subject too. Though I cannot contribute much

I've seen quite a few on craig's list and ebay that sells them for less. I've also heard of some who have used 996 (re: from my recollection) seats in the boxster....hopefully someone else chimes in to verify this. I don't remember where I saw this...maybe on renntech??

Good luck with your find.

You can get a pair of them for $1584 here:http://www.gahh.com/product_info.php?cPath=27_57_341_3003&products_id= 1201?osCsid=5eae78be572c1a6007c262b468067f41 a little more than you wanted, but not too bad. You can install these yourself fairly easily if you know how to work with Hog Rings. If you research their site, you can also just replace either the seat cushion (bottom) or seatbacks for under $500/pr.

Recovering seats is really expensive for what you get.

I'd look for replacement seats out of a 2002 Carrera that's been turned into a race car... that's what I did.

I have nearly-new looking seats and I paid just $750 shipped.

Keep an eye on fleaBay for them or call a dismantler... but they'll be a lot more there because they know they've got you by the short hairs.

You can swap in 996 seats, either partial power or full power. The added wiring for full power really isn't a big deal, PM me if you go that route and need help.

I think you'll do much better searching for good seats than you will paying to recover yours.

Porsche sells replacement seat covers, but I'm sure they cost an arm and a leg.

Saw these aftermarket covers on ebay for $700. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=280196866549&ssPageNam e=ADME:B:WNA:MOTORS:1123 Never seen them in person.

There is a Boxster spec racing class that recently started. They take 1997-1999 cars and strip them, and remove the seats and the interior. That might be a source of donor seats.
