Yeah, she didn't take the dramamine in time so she wasn't feeling very good.

Bill, How is the tire holding up?

did anyone take any personal pix they could post?

Man, I wish I was there instead of Houston where Ike hit... but glad I stayed home because my house would be flooded right now if I had left.

No pix, Randall. Sorry. We were too busy driving and buying gas.

derb? Did you make it home safe and sound? How'd the car run?

derb 09-18-2008 03:56 PM

I made it home with no over heating. Didn't use the AC. Have not figured out what is going on. I have a liter of water in the car just in case.

Had a great time. In a few months we'll be planning next year.

Congratulations on the marriage and say hello to your lovely wife for me.

I didn't go with the group but just got back from a football weekend in Knoxville.

I drove over to Blue Ridge GA. I took 68 up from the Georgia line - great road, light traffic (virtually none Saturday morning), well paved and great turns, hills, etc. 68 goes right to Tellico Plains and the Cherohala Skyway entrance. I like going West to East better. On to the Dragon - crazy crowded. Got stuck behind a big pick up that wouldn't pull over. Oh well.

I highly recommend this route to anyone heading north to the Dragon (from the Southeast).

Hello everyone,

Just a newbie here...hope to stay close to all! I'm Charisse!

Just rode the Dragon

I rode the Dragon for the last 2 days and it was great, just like a roller coaster on wheels. But in my opinion doing the Cherohala Skyway was more entertaining because it is longer and if you are alone on the road you could really open it up and let your car show you what it could do. I will be back next year.

Did you run the "Twisted Pickle" when you were out there?

AreaOne 09-26-2009 09:50 PM

Unfortunately I didn’t that’s on the agenda for the next time

Good plan! You won't regret it.

Id like to come down from Toronto but I am told the way down is completely dominated by trucks and more trucks throwing rocks that will leave some serious battle scars on my black Boxster!!! Is this the case??

chris97boxster 03-30-2011 09:14 AM

Lots of bikes make their way down there

On one of the bike forums I frequent, a link to
a picture of a tractor trailer unit with its trailer
crossing the solid line...the turns r 2 tight for some of the
trucks driving thru there.....
BUT.....318 turns in 11 miles......still makes me want to go
Chris

95 and 81 are quite often used by trucks. i've driven them several times and it's not that bad. yes sometimes little rocks and pebbles are thrown up, but no more than any other major interstate that i've encountered.

it's not enough to keep me from making my way down there a few times a year.

teamwenz 03-30-2011 11:02 AM

Where is a good place to stay, and what is the twisted pickle

jaykay 03-30-2011 01:16 PM

....yes i was more concerned with the route down like i75 etc. It is a long way from Canada

75 is not a bad trip at all. It is way better than 95 traffic wise.
