Umm, we're getting 15 inches of snow...

...tonight, into tomorrow... that's on top of the 8"-10" last Friday and the 6+ we had Sunday...
Spring seems an eternity away right now.

I love the snow. I love the cold. I love it when it's chilly out. I spend a lot of time outside in the winter.

BUT

I am tired of winter already! lol

I'm so ready for it to be top-down weather. 45 degrees is my cut-off. As soon as it hits that then the Boxster is getting a bath and we are going driving.

Unfortunately I don't see those temperatures in the next few weeks. :(

Bob Z. 02-05-2008 06:40 AM

When I lived in Maryland my cutoff for having the top down was 40 albeit I was really bundled up.

But now in Florida the cutoff is around 60...the older I get the colder it seems to get.

Speaking of cold, the winter here has been cooler than normal although we are expecting low-mid 80s today - too bad the Boxster S is sitting somewhere in Finland waiting for a boat.

JackG 02-05-2008 06:42 AM

It was 62 Sunday. The box got a bath.

It's going to be 79 today. Guess what I drove to work. :p

NickCats 02-05-2008 06:52 AM

I will say this, I sure picked the right year to take up snowboarding

I have been able to hit the slopes every weekend since Dec 9th !

I sure do miss driving the Boxster though :(

Nick

bmx672 02-05-2008 06:54 AM

You know... I guess I do like the excitement of the snow though... I do have my Audi quattro with snow tires for winter... and that's a blast in the snow!!!

tbplayer22 02-05-2008 07:44 AM

Sorry to hear that man. Moving south will solve that problem. I drove mine with the top down yesterday.

dmcutter 02-05-2008 08:22 AM

Hmmm....72 here today. Def top down on the way home for my bike ride.

Come do a long weekend in UT! I was in waist-deep Alta pow yesterday, off to Brighton today. Apres ski will consist of beer and lamenting the loss of the Boxster for another month or so....

Dr. Kill 02-05-2008 08:58 AM

Wow, I am glad I got out of there when I did - my flight out of Chicago last night was one of the only ones not canceled. 3 hours late, but hey, I got home.

Enjoy the snow!

pompous 02-05-2008 09:38 AM

Close to 80 here in fl today. Although...i would LOVE to be doin' some skiing right now!

Nick

Chills 02-06-2008 10:11 AM

I should have worked from home today. I take Metra to the Loop and it was clear this morning.

One would think that being a weatherman I would know better and stay home.... one would think. hahaha

I just hope the BNSF isn't delayed going back to the burbs; and that Pace can get me to my house.

bmx672 02-06-2008 10:14 AM

I'm working from home as well...
Here's a shot from earlier. We've had about 6 more inches since. I've already done the drive once.
This photo is looking up into the cul-de-sac from my front door.

xxxalexxxx 02-06-2008 12:55 PM

Brucelee 02-06-2008 01:08 PM

This Global Warming is something, huh?

Here in SOCAL, we are having a very wet, very cold winter.

What's up with that?

steve00s 02-06-2008 01:11 PM

Wow. 79 in NC. I need to go somewhere warm.

Dr. Kill 02-06-2008 02:30 PM

It actually got up to 64 today at my office - I wanted to duck out for a while to drive around with the top down, but couldn't get away.

bmx672 02-06-2008 02:32 PM

XXXaleXXXX
I know what you mean by the drive... I remember once when I lived in Lincoln Park and worked in DesPlaines (still work there) it was a 16 mile trip one way. During one of these heavy snows it took me almost 3 1/2 hours to get to work... only to find that we were closed... then another 3 or so on the way home... over 6 hours in the car and a half tank of gas used I was ready for a cold one  ! Chicago in the snow sucks big time :barf: . Now I drive the opposite way... 60 miles west and it averages 60 minutes from parking lot to home. Same as my 16 mile trip! Even the snow days going west are not that bad. It's all I-90 so it's pretty smooth sailing.

I hope that the roads are somewhat clear tomorrow... I plan on going to work!

Yeah I'm tired of snow too. We ski and enjoy the winter but every morning I see the Boxster covered in the garage and I'm ready for spring. Just waiting for a sunny, dry road day to take her out. Have not driven the Boxster since late November. And it's suppose to snow again tomorrow!!!

Hey NickCats,

Your pictures out the window look awfully close to the architecture outside my house in Naperville. But then again, all builders build the same box.

I just tried to start my Boxster in the garage with no avail. My 4 year old battery is dead with only 11.0 volts on it. Just spent my day off replacing my dead porsche battery with a Duratec battery from Autozone. :( Looks like I have to have a better battery maintainer than the one I bought from Autozone. Do you guys prefer the one from CTEK or the one from Porsche. Just wondering.

Appreciate you experience. Thanks in advance :D

dcporsche99 02-10-2008 06:02 AM

What are you guys down to now? -30?

And I think just north of you is -50??

jmatta 02-10-2008 07:10 AM

Don't you just love northern Illinois? It won't be Porsche weather for some time to come. BTW, those are the Porsches in the garage under covers.

NickCats 02-10-2008 10:27 AM

hjkim,

Yep, Concord Homes ( now Lennar ).

I have been using the Porsche maintainer for 2 years and have been pleased thus far :

Hey NickCats,

Thanks for the info on the battery maintainer. :)

Just sitting here and dreaming of good weather in April... seem awfully far away :(
