No more PS2 205/50ZR17???
Was this PS2 tire size discontinued??? Can't seem to find them anywhere. Can find the 255/40ZR17 but not the fronts.
Spring is coming and I will need fresh rubber when I get my baby out of hybernation. |
Hello.
Take a look at TireRack.com They still have pilot sport in stock, so they maybe have the PS2. Give them a call. Good luck tirerack link |
I think that is correct, no 205/50ZR17 in the PS2 line.
Tire Rack shows a 205/55ZR17 is available. I (think) decided to put 225/45ZR17 on the front, I really like having that additional meat up front. |

The difference in diameter between 205/50 and 225/45 is less than .4% ... So I also think that 225 is a good replacement for the OEM size, but you need a rim width between 7-8.5 in. |
...if I am not mistaken, the stock 17" wheel is 7" wide (986). And I just went to the garage to look, and I do have the 225/45ZR17 on the front. Not much difference on the street but the occasional autox revealed a bit less under-steer with the wider tire up front.

Thank you for the replys. That really sucks that I can't get the original Michelin PS2 Tire setup. I might just try the 225/45 on the front or else I'll have to go with another brand...
It's difficult to judge tire brands based on feedback (on tirerack or on this forum) but I guess I'll start reading to find second best... Cheers! |
Lots of us are now running the 245 on the front, I for one fee the car handles better with that size. As you mentioned there are multiple threads about "which tires are best" it's all very subjective and most based on little back-to-back comparisons. I'm not expert in the field but I have driven on a variety of tires on boxsters and on miatas and I've quoted Randall before from another thread and I agree with him when he said:
