Start up problem

Hi this morning i started my car but within seconds it cut out. :(

Now if i turn it over there is a sound but its not like a turning over sound you would get from a starter motor and not quite a screeching sound either somewhere in between. The battery seems fine all the power in the car works, light radio etc.

It's a 2000 model. I've read some threads and it looks like it could be the ignition switch, if so then would there be anyway to tell by the unusual start up sound.

Can anyone help any ideas?

Thanks
Nad

Your lights could work, and you still may have a bad battery. When was it last changed? If you are on your original one, it is definitely due for a change, and if you changed one 4 years ago, then I'd still check the battery. This seems to come up all the time, but basically there is much less draw on the battery from the various components than from trying to start the car.

Good luck.

Thanks

I'll try the battery and then post back, if successful or not.
