New brakes for the S
 

She needed them... 54K on the original pads and rotors. Pads were toast, maybe 2mm left. Rotors had huge lips on the outside. New Zimmermans and Pagid Sport pads, but I did not install any vibration dampeners. After a quick bedding the thing stops on a dime. Easiest job in the world... given what the local shops charge, I paid myself over $100 an hour to drink coffee and beer, listen to music, play with the dog, and work in the garage. Nice.

Just finished the same job but added weltsmeister anti squeel liners on all four.

You might want to paint the rotor hats.

Tool that is a sore subject. I ordered rotors from performance parts, and they sent me the wrong ones. They sent drilled for a base car. Not paying attention I painted those rotor hats before realizing they were the wrong parts.

I needed to get this done immediately as the existing pads were down to the sensors, and the rotors were grooved badly.

When I do the rears, I'll be sure to paint those hats. I'll do the fronts at the same time.

Trust me, I'm normally VERY OCD about that stuff. This time I just got killed by the timing of it all.

Take it from a guy who has had back surgery, the 35 lbs is sweet, it's a very nice jack and it's all aluminum too which prevents the immediate rust most other brands suffer.

Just wondering, did you replace the caliper bolts and tork them properly? :eek:

Torqued yes replaced....nope, IMHO they were just fine, as were the wear sensors and spring clips. I am going to push some fresh ATE super blue through the system with a motive then do the clutch on my pals lift in the spring.

I also properly torqued the bolts but did not replace them. I have done this with my calipers on the race car probably 15 times now. I have not had a single instance of them ever coming loose.

Look up the price on those bolts! You'll never find any track person using a new set of bolts every time they change pads... you'd spend $30 extra an axle just on bolts!

It's good to know the bolts can be re-used if needed. I did a complete brake job over he winter last year and did some extensive reading on it first. everywhere i looked they said to replace the bolts. I figured it was probably overkill but for a few extra bucks I knew I'd sleep better. The motive power leeder worked very well too.
