After more than 12 months of 'lurking' on this site and searching for a vehicle with my exact 'wish-list' (year, color, low miles, 'S') I have finally done a deal on a 2004 Seal Grey/Black 986 S.

It was because of this forum that I have been as fanatical in my quest. Thanks for all who post.

I know that this has been discussed before but I can't find any site to identify all the option codes stamped on the vehicle ID.- C23, X97, X98, 490, 502. I think that 502 is 'hi-fi upgrade' but the others are a mystery. This is an Australian vehicle, right hand drive, so don't know if I need a website for this part of the world.

Also, how difficult is it to get a Porsche dealer to retro-fit PSM to this car? What sort of $$$ and is it worth it?

Thanks for the welcome messages and the weblink. Unfortunately I'm no wiser as these codes are not found.

I have tried to upload some images but unfortunately get a 'Could not create file system directory to hold your attachment' message. I am Mac not PC but shouldn't matter. The pics are .jpg and small size. Any suggestions?

The options code page I had bookmarked on my site is dead now. :(

As far as posting pics goes, the site is screwed up and it's not letting anyone upload pics directly onto the site's servers. You'll have to upload them to another site (of which there are many that will host pics for free) and then link them in a new thread post.
