i was thinking maybe heritage kinda racing picture, or perhaps few cars, maybe james dean inspired one, or a 356 or something along those lines...

anyone have any ideas or anything else? i would need a picture for reference to show her what i want.

Well if she doesnt mind having the painting alittle unoriginal, she can replace the vehicles in this picture VVV with the vehicles you mentioned

Maybe place James Dean, then the first Concept Boxster, then yours, Then the 987, then the Orange 08, then the newest 550 Spyder edition with 300hp.

Just a thought, someone might beable to photoshop that... adn by someone i mean you lol

Maybe you could find some ideas here.
http://www.alexmaurer.de/page_1186615691921.html

Make it timeless, make it YOU. In a way, it skews egotistical, but still... a portrait of yourself and your car. Don't know if a GIANT painting of Mladen is what the world is dying to see, but it'd be unique to have, that's for sure.

This reminds me of that video "Take on Me" by A-ha. Anyone remember them? Or maybe Speed Racer.

Throw a cigarette in your mouth for that extra bit of cool. (Do, don't do that.)

why not have her paint a picture of YOUR car..with or without you in it??? Pick a great setting, take some photos, and have her use them. I had a similar situation a few years ago. Had a friend paint my 79 911. She took photos of my driveway (concrete paver stones) and used it for the foreground. Then took hundreds of pics of the car itself. Put the two together and it turned out great. Its hanging over the fireplace right now! Or do something with a nice juxtaposition.... your car against an old barn or brick building. Just some thoughts.

Hey dj,
I would have to agree with Bob. Your car is certainly unique. IMHO, I would have her paint your current avatar and/or even a montage of your many, many, many really nice photos. Good luck with your decision!

Totally remember that video! Nice one Jeph!

I think it's kinda silly to do your current car, as much as you might love it it's still just your current car, and unless you got married in it or something I think you will probably find a newer one to love even more eventually.

I vote for something classic, like a 917 or a 550 or something. If it were me I'd probably do a

As much as I like to drive, and now ride, I know they are just stepping stones to my real love!

David man, I've got to disagree with you. If I could have some one do a custom painting just for me, no way in the world would I make it be of a random classic car I may like. That seems kinda meaningless. It may be just his current car right now, but I'm sure it's memorable, I'm sure it has stories. I bet it's his first Porsche.

The way I see it, if it's your car -and you love cars, it's worth remembering, thus captured in painting. I mean, I love the Ferrari F430 and Volvo P1800... but I would take a painting of my 1994 Ford Probe over those. Seriously, I would.

Sure, he might find a car he loves more later down the road. But what a great way to remember one of the stepping stones that led up to that! Twenty years from now he can look back on that painting and remember so much more than just a previous "current driver."

I would do the Porsche crest on the left tilted toward the center of the painting, with the sky on the right. Then at the bottom, a picture of your car or any Porsche you like, driving out of the bottom of the crest. With the crest disintegrating as the car drives through it.
I think that would look really cool!

dj,

You have spend a lot of time and effort with your photography, in my opinion you should include some of that work in this painting. A portrait of you and your boxster, you know you'll be proud of it because it is real and not fabricated. I agree with jeph's reply "I mean, I love the Ferrari F430 and Volvo P1800... but I would take a painting of my 1994 Ford Probe over those."

Personally I like the the style similar to what Grizzly posted, there are many examples you can look at here:
http://www.allposters.com/-st/Transportation-Vintage-Art-Posters_c9036_.htm look for vintage art + transportation.
I am jealous for sure, can't wait to see the finished painting.

Mladen, how about that image you photoshopped with your car in the foreground and your dash in the background?

And where are you? You usually interject a lot more conversation in your postings.

I have a friend that likes to paint and this post is making me want to ask her to do my car!

Good decision I think. Having a personalized painting of your own car is very special. (I know mine is...regardless of the fact that my wife thinks its toooo much. I love it and remember that car every time I look at it) You can get paintings, photos, drawings, etc, of famous or appealing Porsches from a ton of places, but one of your own personalized first porsche... what a thing to have to remember it with (lol.. assuming you ever get rid of it).

I'm sure you'll have fun with the decision, and the process. Working the the painter can be a lot of fun, and very instructional. You'll toss around ideas, look at different perspectives and on and on. Just remember.. she's the one painting it.. be open minded to her ideas! It'll be great!!

That watercolor Griz posted is a fantastic picture. Wish I had it!! But......it won't hold the same meaning to you as a pic of yours will. IMHO..of course!

LOL..nahhhhhh married a lonnnngggg time..22 years. She liked the car and I had the artist try to use colors matching our living room so she wouldn't throw a fit! But she has been making noises about moving it to the den. Time to change the decor. oh well.
