Seats

I had posted this on Renntech and got no replies. Maybe you ladies and gentlemen an help. I am built a little differently than most people( 6'tall, 56" chest and 40" waist ) I have a little trouble over long distances with the seats in my Boxster. The "wings" hit kidneys and such and my back is not truley supported. I was looking into getting seat heaters and the shop said that they might be able to adjust the wings out a little. Is this really possible and also does anyone know of any seats that would fit the 98 Boxster and give me more shoulder and back room . Thanks in advance for your time and consideration. Ed

I have the same problem. 5'11" 48 chest 34 waist. The wings on my 2002S dig into my lats. I haven't found a solution. I have sat in other porsche seats that appear would fit the boxster, but they have the same fit. Let me if widening the wings help.

You can add additional padding to the center portion of the seat back and in effect reduce the depth of the side bolsters. Gently lift up and out on the center portion of the seat back and it will unclip at the top and "tilt" forward. I have done this and added some 1/2" high density foam from a camping bed roll found at Walmart, or you can use thinner material from a computer mouse pad or similar. I simply cut the foam to shape, inserted it behind the lose center section and clipped the seat back together. No tools are necessary and you can add additional foam for lumbar support if needed.
