Call the po po!! it's Robbery

Why?? Well being unemployed has turned me into a Barett Jackson junkie. Three minutes ago a 930 turbo cabrio 1989, 38k miles owned by Wayne Gretski sold for 50K. Now you might say so what? WELL...said vehicle had RUF wheels which was noted by the announcer. When the engine lid was lowered it revealed a RUF badge, it also had quad out exhaust. Now I'm no expert but I'd be willing to bet that 930 was a RUF vehicle not just a RUF wheeled vehicle. More than likely it had engine mods and possibly suspension mods as well, a RUF prepared vehicle owned by Gretski for 50K? If I had my jay oh Bee I would have wanted to bid!!

A real Ruf has a Ruf VIN. If a VIN was listed. Ruf is a manufacturer just like Porsche.

But I do not know when the Ruf VINs started.

Funny you should say that TP the announcer opened the door and said "there isn't a 930 in the vin code" his assumption was it might not have been a real 930. Knowing the documented owner it's no stretch to think it was a real deal RUF. Why would "the great one" be a RUF poser? That's my move with my newly painted yellow fake PCCB brakes!

had to be a ruf,9th player o year why not a ruf. and how about that osh-kosh toter home you could pull all your friends and toys to a track day. 1000 ft.lb. grunt.awesome!!

Just because Wayne Grestky was an amazing Hockey player, it doesn't mean he is an all knowledgeable Porsche/Ruf enthusiast.

While I am not certain, I don't think "RUF" produced cars were legally brought into the states untill the 1990s. I think all "rufs" before then for US consumption were cars converted at either RUF in Germany or RUF centers in the US.

That said, a 1989 930 Turbo sits in the "gray area" in my mind. Too new/current to have gathered any real collector car status. Maybe in another 10 years.. To some, the "ruf" performance goodies take away from the car's "collector" status.
