Smile Rear Window Replaced for less than $100.00!

With the help of the local auto upholstry shop, I sucessfully replaced my rear
plastic widow in my 01' Boxster S. Total cost of less than $100.00! That
includes the shop fee of $20.00 to sew in the new window. I am thinking about putting together a kit for people to do it themselves and avoid the high cost that some of these places want to charge. If you are interested, send me a PM or an e-mail.

JP

Just FYI: You can already do this with the kit sold on eBay.

My guess is that Hes already got several kits ready to sell, a company name and a paypal account setup for that. Probably just a Vendor that doesnt want to pay for ad-space.

This kit:

Has been around for a while, but not many shops will install it for under $100.00! Not sure how that's possible since it takes up to 3hrs.

I am not a vendor... I am actually a paramedic in southwest florida. Just found a cheap way to get around paying someone to do something you can do yourself quite easily and cheaper. and... i don't have kits ready to go or a paypal account...

And...to MR. JUMP.... If you looked, I've been a member of the forum for only a few months less than yourself.

Well with that out of the way then, it is still near impossible to find a shop to install the window for under $100, The shop you found is a diamond in the ruf. Chances are when you left, they said "GOD DAMN that was hard, we will charge more next time." lol

Its pretty back braking poking a needle in and out of the plastic window. I replaced my own top and that cost me $380 for the canvas with window and about 60 more bucks or a shop to finish the job i started (better secure the canvas under the front of the convertible top against the front windshield)

the kit on ebay and emiata is different. I will include the product in my kit that makes the window waterproof, not contact cement/adhesive which appears to be included in those other kits. I plan on selling the kit I put together for $80.00 (including shipping) which is cheaper than both of the above options. I will post pics soon of my window. and my kit doesent require you to do any sewing . . . you pay a shop $20.00 to sew in the new window.

Regards,

JP

what they are all trying to tell you, is that no shop would do that for $20, the one that you found is an exception.
