So Long Folks

i traded my 03 boxsterS for an 03 911 C4S. it's been fun reading and posting here. i'll be doing most of my posting over on 6speedonline in the 996 forum from now on.

while the C4S is a truly amazing car. i still think the boxsterS feft more controlled and balanced to me.

i was lucky enough that scott from softronic upgraded my C4S ECU software for no charge. all i had to do was flash the boxster back to stock. big thanks to scott.

best,
vick

I hope it works for you.

I found that I had a 2002 C4S plus a 2001 Boxster in the garage and for the six or so months that I had both, the 4S got about 500 miles on it. Any nice day that came along, it was the Boxster, top down, of course, that got the nod.

So I had to ask my own self, why am I keeping the 4S? It was indeed the most beautiful car I have ever had (ask Randall if you don't believe me!). Faster? Yup. More style? Yup.

But when it got down to it, which one got driven?

You guessed it. The Box.

So I took the opposite tack from you and canned them both and got a new 987.

I do miss the 4S, but not because of the way it drove. The Box has it all over the 911.

And its top goes down, as it should in a proper sports car.

But what it is is the overall balance of the Box. It's just the way it oughta be.

But if the 4S floats your boat, good for you. It is indeed a great car.

That's what makes this ol' world go 'round, eh?

All the best,

- Mark

mark,

the boxster was the best handling car i have ever driven. i think the mid-engine design is superior to the 911 rear-engine. the thing that made me get the C4S is that it comes close to the boxster handling and i didn't like the convertible aspect that much. i found i almost always drove with the top up.

too early to think about next car, but if porsche would stuff more power into a cayman it might make be switch back.
