ordering 987... how much and when

I'm going to order a 987... now its just a matter of when and how much. Porsche hasn't published any official prices on options yet, but they should be the same or less than 2004 (the sales guy says).

1. Which dealer would you go with? I'm in northern California.
2. Would you expect to pay full MSRP for a 987 for a Jan-Feb delivery? (or might they deal)
3. Would you wait until the option prices are posted before ordering or just go for it?

Thanks!

I'm curious to see what you find out. Sorry I have no answers for you. I want to wait and get a 987 and perhaps a gently used almost new one since that could save me a few thousand I would think. I read that the base price of the car is $43,600 instead of 42,600 (or something like that but it's close) so I'm sure the options would be similar except for new ones? You also might run into dealers actually getting more than full retail when they first come out because they are new, but I could be wrong.

I know the new Boxster even though the base price is higher, the car is much cheaper (thousands), when you factor in all the standard options.

Thats right... the 987s have a bunch of standard options the 986 didn't have so it's technically less expensive....and the rumor is the options will be less expensive or the same as 2004. (we'll see) So the 987 should be a better buy.

My dealer (niello in sacramento) is not marking up MSRP. If I order one he says it will be at MSRP. I'm assuming that I'm going to have to pay MSRP to be get one in jan-feb... but oh well.

Here is a link to the wallpaper images AND the preliminary price guides. They show the standard options now included in the base price. http://definitely.com/2005_boxster_wallpaper/

987s has over $6000 in options that were not included on my 02 986s. Sure, I didn't buy the trip computer, but I did pay for 18" wheels, PSM, etc that represent over $4000 of options that are now standard equipment.

I'm looking forward to test driving the new coupe!

Will it cost less then the ragtop I wonder...?

All my sales guy has said about the coupe is that it exists and will be out shortly after the reg. boxster. We'll just have to wait and see.
