Someone talk me out of this !

I might go check out this car :

http://diamond-motorworks.ebizautos.com/detail-2000-porsche-911-carrera_4-2484425.html

Info on the Millenium Edition :

http://www.theautobahn.com/forum/archive/index.php/t-840.html

My logic - dump the Benz and the Boxster for one all-season car...

Help ! Someone please bring me back to my senses

Nick

Funny you should mention this because I have also been looking at C4's but not to replace my Boxster and not 1999-01's and NOT one with wood trim! does it come with a bag of walnuts to munch on?

The price seems a little high for 99-01. I think you'll do better on resale with a 2002, C4S if you can swing it best styling on any Carrera ever IMO. Either way I'd wait until the prices come down, they are dropping fast.

btw, the C4 feels like tonka truck compared to my BoxsterS. Some might say it feels more like a medium sized battle ship. You will become familiar with the term understeer in a hurry at your next autocross.

Nick, why don't you just get a warm blanket and watch "Speed Channel" while you're at home instead of browsing the internet for car....

YOu have the classic sign of Boxster withdrawals during winter time

Nick,

I know your pain. I almost made the same move, but I refrained and am happy again in my boxster.

There was a 40k mile millenium edition in TX for 27k a few months ago, so don't rush, or tell them they are too high.

The paint is neat, but it is really flashy being green, purple, black, brown depending on the light. Those that don't know about the millenium edition features will wonder why you put cheap chrome paint on the wheels (they had problems with peeling) and a wood dash kit in your porsche.

I am trying my best to be negative, since you asked to be talked out of it, but let's be honest, it is a gorgeous car and you will have a great time with it. The MEs are loaded with all available features, so you have plenty of buttons and lights. They don't seem to be worth more as a collector yet, but maybe one day they will, as only 911 were produced.

O.K. Nick, my turn.

1 - The price is way high for a 2000.

2 - It 's not a rag top. If you're truly looking for an all season car, why not a cabriolet with a hard top.

3 - The chrome wheels are...um...chrome

4 - The wood trim is, well, chickish

5 - Boxsters are going to kick your ass at the auto-x.

I have to agree with Griz about the chrome wheels. They really turn me off.

PL - so what are you saying, you don't like the wood ?

That's funny. my buddy was trying to talk me into a C4S as well, too much $$$ :

http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.jsp?car_id=236418821&dealer_id=604942&car_year=2002&model=911&num_records=&systime=&make2=&start_year=2000&keywordsfyc=__YzRz__&keywordsrep=099052115&engine=&certified=&body_code=2&fuel=&awsp=false&search_type=both&distance=0&marketZipError=false&search_lang=en&make=POR&color=&page_location=findacar%3A%3Aispsearchform&min_price=&body_style=COUPE&drive=&default_sort=priceDESC&max_mileage=&style_flag=2&sort_type=priceDESC&address=60195&advanced=y&end_year=2008&doors=&transmission=Manual&max_price=43000&cardist=689

Thanks for the heads up on the autocross. I must say I have only driven a 911 once, and I was not impressed.

Gerry - I think you hit the nail on the head !!!

Max - I agree, I think the price is too high, and not crazy about the chrome rims either.

dc - too funny !

Griz :

1 - I agree
2 - good point !
3 - I agree
4 - I don't know, I kinda like the wood. Would have to see it in person ( same with the paint )
5 - Oh crap ! I didn't even think about that.

You guys rock ! Anyway, I'm sure I'll get the big NO from "the boss" ( I did promise her no more cars for 2 more years ).

Nick

1) Its overpriced
2) "special edition" doesn't mean much when it becomes your daily driver and logs some serious mileage..
3) its a 911.. everyone on this board knows they are inferior to the Boxster
