Boxster S RS Spyder Now Official
Well, it is now official, a Boxster S RS RS Spyder is on the way. Try this link:
http://www.motorauthority.com/cars/porsche/porsche-boxster-rs-60-spyder/
All this makes me believe that the facelift is really going to arrive later than March '08, more like September '08 as others are projecting.

I have to say I'm pretty disappointed in Porsche and their 'special additions'. Seems like the Porsche Design Cayman and this Boxster could pretty much be ordered the same way if you pick the options (minus the nameplate). If they are going to go through the effort to produce a special addition why not drop a 3.6L or 3.8L engine in it and make it really special, don't just select a combination of options that are already available.
At least give it wheels or something that you can't otherwise get. Doesn't seem so special to me.
I do realize they are trying to model it after the old Spyder but still, they could take it a bit further.

So do I.
I'm disappointed too, that these new special Porsches just have BNG. (Bold New Graphics)

Wow, I like it! This special edition actually has some bespoke touches that haven't been seen before. The missing hood over the gauges is a little funky, but I could live with that, depending on the price.
I love the carrerra red interior, although it looks pink in that first link. I've seen Carrera red in person before and it's not pink at all.
If porsche can get the price right (around $60,000) I might step up, as I'm afraid I'm not going to like the 2009 body style.
But then... I do want the newer engines... argh....

The color combo is aboslutely gorgeous!!!! But as everyone said, you can order it that way as an regular, or S. Anyone notice the top is also red? I like the instrument cluster, but I like different anyway.

Well, there's quite a few items on there that you couldn't just order:
- exhaust (possibly--people seem to think it's not just PSE)
- carrera red interior (porsche exclusive)
- fancy schmancy shift knob (porsche exclusive)
- gauge hood delete (porsche exclusive?)
- door sills
- perforated leather steering wheel (porsches exclusive?)
and there's probably other things I didn't notice.

I agree. But the so-called dark grey is what I call black if it is the same as the 04 SE had as option.
I could like that car with black paint & top over tan interior.
And why not offer the 5-gauge instrument pod reporting on the 997S engine?
I could love that.

I'm not a fan of the wheels. But that gauge cluster is gorgeous.
If it had Carrera S wheels I'd buy one (I'm not too fond on spec'ing different wheels on a special edition).

I will stick with my 2004 special edition
I actually like my color combination of the silver and cocoa better, but that is just my opinion.
