Ho hum. Doesn't do a thing for me. Come spring when I've saved up the money and get my monster Turbowerx engine makeover, the special edition Spydyers will be watching my plain old 04S tail lights vanish in the distance.

so I always am in the Camp of more horsepower but I saw in I think motortrend a cayman that had like 395 horsepower.....some aftermarket do up....that ended with a price tag of over 100K....and even they said while the HP was great, the gar was 4 tenths of a second faster than the stock S.....with that being said....give me the horsepower anyways! :D

oh sorry, I like the color combo....but I do think the interior is too much with alternating silver and red but then I thought the black wheels on the orange SE sucked, and the Cayman SE was a waste of paint :D

Stupid that you would put an RS on a car and only bump the power by a few horses. You have to be a Real Sucker to buy this RS and pay the premium.

The RS name implies a RennSport model. To me that means light weight and a strong power to weight ratio. Why not a speedster type RS. Imagine Less sound deading, radio and ac delete, manual roof, less insulation in the roof, adjustable suspension, a RS badge. if Porsche is going to make cars and name them after infamous past models at least maintain that RS means something.

By the way all 1960 will sell out.

If they would have called this special edition anything except RS I would appreciate it more.

If it's priced in a manner similar to the orange special edition, the "premium" is actually a "discount".

Very true, as the Orange Edition is a relative bargain, if you priced out the Sport Exhaust ($2,000) and Sport Design Package ($5,800), they are almost $8,000 if ordered alone, and then there is the Alcantra, etc. Perhaps Porsche will do the same here with the S RS.

If i was buying a new Boxster i would jump to have this it is so HOT!!!!!

I think it is a winner, Certain people want limited edition models, Porsche know this and can make extra bucks and tons of PR from it.

This has a page dedicated to it in the Aberdeen car supliment in the paper.

They cant use up all there tricks now re: engine, they dont need too.

Haven't seen any US pricing, but here is how it stacks up in Canada:

$70,200 Base Boxster S - source Porsche Canada
$81,900 RS 60 Edition - source: Canadian Driver
$11,700 Premium

Definately worth it if you look at individual prices in CAD:
$5,050 for Carrera Red leather
$2,720 for the 19" rim upgrade
$2,790 for PASM
$2,940 for the Sport Exhaust
$4,390 for GT Silver metallic "Special Color"
$17,890

Some of those option prices are insane though. How is GT silver worth $3,400 more than Arctic Silver ??

I'm not a fan of the wheels. But that gauge cluster is gorgeous.

If it had Carrera S wheels I'd buy one (I'm not too fond on spec'ing different wheels on a special edition).

Don't forget the sport seats, Exclusive shift knob/handbrake, sport chrono, PCM, likely Bose stereo system, et cetera.

That number looks about right. If it's anything like that here in the US, wow, I'm going to be severely tempted....

The paint options are a joke though. in 2005 Cobalt Blue was a $3000 option, then in 2006 or 2007 they changed it so that it was only an $800 option, but they took Atlas Grey, which was an $800 color and made it a $3000 color!!! SO ARBITRARY. :matchup:

Well, it's up on the Porsche configurator now. $64,900.

I'm a bit disappointed though. It doesn't have a lot of the equipment that was shown in the press pictures.

The following are not standard:

- PCM
- Sport Chrono
- Xenon headlights
- Heated seats
- Parking assist

All of those items were shown on the car in the microsite. :(

It's still not a "bad" deal, considering all the exclusive options, but now it's a lot less compelling.

I agree. But the so-called dark grey is what I call black if it is the same as the 04 SE had as option.

I could like that car with black paint & top over tan interior.

And why not offer the 5-gauge instrument pod reporting on the 997S engine?

I actually like my color combination of the silver and cocoa better, but that is just my opinion.
