Shift Knobs ('05+ knob in my '00 car)
 

I might have just screwed up and purchased the wrong shift knob for my car.. I have a '00 986s, and I just bid on a '05 997 suede shift knob and boot.

Do these work together, or is there a way to modify the '05 shift knob to fit my '00 car? I really like the look!

No, i dont think it will fit but im not 100% sure

The knob itself will fit, but the boot won't. :(

What you can do is carefully remove the plastic trim from your original boot and then remove the plastic trim from the new one and have a professional install the plastic trim from the old boot onto the new boot and you'll be updated, I've been wanting to do that for sometime now. Pictures when your done please.

I wonder if the layout of the leather on the new boot will fit the old plastic trim okay? I really would like to see this work out in my car. The round suede shifter out of the 997 is one of the best looking shift knobs I have ever seen!

This is for the 968 and its the closest I found to the 997 shift knob
But the numbers light up, which I think is stupid
