sport seat question
Are the sport seats really that much "sport"ier?
I've been thinking about getting a pair (if i could ever find them) but have been looking at pictures, and think that other than the additional shoulder bolsters, they are the same as the stock seats. maybe i should save my money for euro gt3 seats or another aftermarket solution. thoughts? opinions?
here's a pic of some 996 sport seats
seams like the seat pan is identical and the lower bolsters are the same.
compared to some 986 stock seats.

I think your right. The only real difference is the bolsters. They are supposed to grip you better during your, "sportier," driving. A lot of, 'larger,' people dislike the sport seats, because they wrap around to tightly.
Save up and get the GT3's or just live with the current seats.

I've sat in them on a showroom floor and didn't notice a difference from my base seats. They just look cooler, that's it.
As for the gt3 seats,I'd check them out first, they are hit or miss with folks.

I found them confining in the shoulders and took them off my want list. If GT3 seats were heated, I'd be interested.

I appreciated them during "enthusiastic" driving (ie Autocross or DE because they did grip me in a bit tighter) but I found them a negative when just "cruising" because they were too snug for my frame.
The seat bottoms are the same as the base seats. Only the seatbacks are different. You can order the backs through the dealer.. Somewhere I had the part numbers.
If you want a truly sporty, cool seat, the Factory EURO GT3 seats are the way to go.

I'm checking out a set tonight, but it really looks like the entire seatback is the same as the stock seat except for the little bit at the shoulders.

I have the sport seats in my S and like the snug feeling, I am an average guy 6', 180 lbs, and I fit just fine. My friend has the regular seats and the first time I sat in them I didnt even notice. If you want more "performance" from your seats dont waste your money on the sport seats IMO, go GT3..

Humara, the sport seats are different in the shoulder area, as you can see in your picture. That's where the extra bolstering is.

yep, just the shoulder area. i just sat in some sport seats. everything else feels the same. not sure if its really worth it. unless i can get them really cheap. thinking that used stock seats go for about $600/pair or so in good condition. at least this is what i have seen.
