Boxster wipers suck?
 

Is it just mine, or is this common knowledge that I don't know about.

Anyone have good recommendations for a good replacement?

No, they don't suck, they wipe.

How awesome would it be tho to have wipers that actually sucked the water away?

Along w/ new blades, you might want to clay your windshield to remove any surface contaminants. Just like claying your paint makes it smooth, claying the glass will do the same allowing wipers to make full contact w/ the glass...

Coming from a Z4 one of the first things I noticed was how much better the wipers were on the boxster.

Looks like you need new ones.

Just you.....I was just commenting this morning the pitch dark on my way to work. (YES IT IS FRIDAY AND I DROVE THE BOXSTER! :rolleyes: ) --- They work quite perfectly, while my "headlight pump washers" tend to work OK, I wouldn't really know as I never use them. :D

If you must use your wipers, you are mistreating your Porsche. It should never be left out in or driven in the rain. My boxster's windshield wipers have only been used twice, and I went straight to confession afterwards :cheers:

She's old and beat up, but she's a garage queen now! :D

I put some Bosch replacement wiper blades/bows on the car and it cleans the windows beautifully. Don't replace just the rubber bit.

My car has wipers?

Clean your windshield with 1 part denatured alcohol and 2 parts distilled water, mixed in a spray bottle. Spray a 100% white terry cloth towel till very wet, scrub windshield, and then buff dry with anther white 100% terry cloth towel.

As much as I had hoped not to, I have to drive my boxster this winter. Last winter, she was put away on a pedestal if that reduces any hail marys for me.

Off to get some Bosch replacement then.

I'm bound to get chastised for this, but it's worth it.

I spray FK1 425 on the windshield and it eliminates squeaking.

Pure denatured alcohol and a rag. Wet the rag, and wipe the blade.

I always change the blade not just the rubber. I like the rainx stuff. I need to use it because the Boxster is my luxury car. Since my wife has taken over the X5

MGB that my Dad and I restored is the garage queen.

I have also cleaned the rubber on my blades with some 000 wet-dry sandpaper. Wet it and rub both sides of it to remove grime and create a solid "point" on the edge.

Of course, just running the length of the blade between your fingernails can remove a lot of crap from the rubber edge and help them take off a lot more rain and not leave streaks as they move back and forth.

However, both of these ideas are when you simply cannot get to the store and put new blade assemblies on the car.

RandallNeighbour, that's a great tip. Mine squeak like crazy, and I'm going to try it.

I'm not quite sure how to describe this, but on most cars, I'm used to the wiper blade being dragged across the windshield, then when the arm reverses, the blade flops over and is dragged back. On my Boxster, the blades don't flop over - the arms drag in one direction and push them the other direction. It's when they're being pushed across the windshield that they squeak so badly.

Is this the way it's s'posed to be? (And is my description making any sense whatsoever?)
