Tire Pressure

How is one supposed to measure tire pressure? Tires warmed up or cold? I want to get optimal performance, wear and safety out ogf my tires (given how fr"*&%n expensive they are). Just not sure of the correct way to measure. Also, I assume a digital guage is better than one of the older "pop-ups".

Thanks

Actual pressure is always measured cold. For increased performance, though you will want to measure hot pressures as well, particularly if doing any kind of competitive driving. For everyday driving, however....measure them in the garage first thing in the morning after the car has sat overnight and yes, get a decent digital gauge. They are less than $20 now and keep it in the glove box.

If in doubt just stop in your local motorcycle shop and get a good guage - I have had mine for years, which I use on my Harley where tire pressure is even more critical.

Good idea about checking them in the garage vice outdoors...the sun can heat up tires.
