engine screech & 60k

If I leave mine sitting for a weekend, when I start it I hear a sound for about half a second. It sounds like maybe a belt.
It's almost time for the 60k service too, so that might have something to do with it. Anyone have any ideas? Also, is there a DIY guide anywhere out there for 60k maintenance items?
Much Thanks
-Tim

You may have to search around for all the items, but I'd bet you can find all of the items in the DIY section(s) at renntech.org (you'll have to register, if you aren't already on there). Good luck.

I would say, Starter issue or your serpentine belt or the idler pulley is worn.

I will go with Idle pulley, i had the same noise at start up and shortly after I started hearing the noise my pulley went.

I would say check it out and change the belt.

Growing up the car magazines said how amazing Porsches are. Was I brainwashed? Somehow...I doubt it.

I stopped my squealing noise by replacing the starter. Got a used one off of eBay for 65$. Two of my neighbors even noticed that the Boxster had stopped making that strange noise.
Fairly easy DIY. It took me about 2 hours.
