My Dad is a lucky bugger!!!!!!! check this

Yesterday he put his deposit down on this car, gets it in December.

Extra options he chose-- Xenons and rear wiper.

He only got current Cayman 4months ago after previous 911 ownership and a brief dabble in a Boxster S in 2001.

Go and check this out!!

I don't like all of the decals and stripes. Maybe it looks better in person.

Congrats for your father!

I think it looks great on black, the stripes look like they are ghost on the body.

I do like all of the decals and stripes. Maybe it looks worse in person.

The Cayman S is an awesome car -- one of the best on the road. Maybe one of the best (non-exotic) sportscars ever made. Its the reason I own a lightly used Boxster, because I chose not to afford a new CS and there are no used ones yet (in my price range).

However, the Design Edition seems misguided. This is a perfect opportunity for Porsche to drop the RIGHT engine in the car under the guise of a special edition -- instead, they gave us Alcantara. I like Alcantara, but its not exactly what our cars are missing...

I like the look of the specail edition, but other than the striping (and the plate confirming that it is special) there really isnt anything specail about it. I would be interested to price out all of those options and find out how much you have to pay for those stripes.
Maybe I am a bit slow but doesnt Porsche always paint the front fascia...and the intakes...and the door handles? Not sure why those are 'design points'. It would be kinda sh***y to buy a new Cayman and have to go get your car painted.

I really like it. But too bad it doesnt have an upgraded engine. With a 3.8 it would be great. too bad porsche only cares about the 911

I thought they have planned the Cayman Turbo as a future plan??

I would like to see something from porsche along the lines of a Cayman GT?RS. light weight, tighter suspension, hydroplaning slick tires, large carbon metailc brakes, factory installed roll cage, same engine but beefed up and signature body colors/scheme only availible for that specific model like the Orange and Black 997 GT3RS

I think if were gonna go into fantasy land, I will add my .02.
Ive said it once, and i will say it again.

YOU pay the money to build the car YOU want.

You buy the body, you buy the engine, the options ect... from any of porsches available models. Except maybe the cayenne variants, lol, TT V8 in a box.... nice but not gonna happen.

Im sure the widebody style 911 would sell more if they could put the base engine in. The TT motor would sell like hot cakes, the GT3 motor would sell like hot cakes, and the boxster/cayman variants would sell way more. Porsche has the pricing tier, and they arnt gonna budge. The sad thing is, people would pay the same price as a 911 for a box with the 911 motor. But they dont care. personally, if I had 100 grand to spend, id buy gt3 engine box...
