My first trip to the dealer!

Hi all,

First of all, let me give thanks for the advice you all give me . I have followed up on some of the advice and also gotten a problem looked at (which I had first posted here)

I just took my box in for some checks and winter preparatory maintenance. As everyone suggested, I had the battery and coolant tested and the oil changed. The tech put in 5W-30 - I was shooting for 0W-40, but I have been told by many sources the cold weather performance difference will be minimal.

As I had posted here before, I was experiencing some odd vibrations upon startup with my tranny. The car would slightly "vibrate" during cold starts when in D or R. I explained this to tech and he suggested some possible solutions. Although I did not fully understand what he said, he suggested there might be some issue with the cats, fully warming up, and blowing air at high speeds to warmup causing the vibrations (3-5 pulses/sec). He said if this was the cause, it is nothing to worry about and advised I do a cold-start test where I warmup the car for 2 minutes and then put it in D/R. Very odd, but problem solved!

He also plugged into the OBC and scanned for any possible tranny codes that might show up (but not cause a CEL). No issues found at all - and I assume if the OBC doesn't detect a fault/problem, I don't really have any worry.

TY for reading!

Off topic but it's amusing to read about winter preparation when in Dallas we anxiously await the first "cold" front to drive temperatures into the mid-80s. Daily highs are still 90-92 degrees. Basically I'm jealous.

It might be nice now, but in 3 weeks, it will be too cold to ride top down. In a few months, it will be too dangerous to drive the car on the road.

Still jealous?
