can the homelink open gates?

ok this is a realllyyy stupid question, but i thought i might shoot it out there just in case. can the homelink system on the 987's be used to control apartment complex gates that use a gate keypad?

I would think so, that's the purpose of the Homelink. But, you will need the transponder to teach Homelink the code.

Well, if the only way to open the gate is by punching the keypad, then Homelink won't work. But if the gate will also open using a transmitter then, yes, I would think you'd have a pretty good chance of teaching Homelink to duplicate that.

As has been said - it will work if the remote receiver is the right type

If you have problems setting it up, I recommend the Homelink website or call the helpline. I had problem getting it to work in Mrs Sixter's X5. Help Desk Lady laughed at the BMW instructions and told me how to really do it.
