Black LED Tail Lights

Does anyone have these or have you seen them installed? Just wondering how they look.

humara 09-12-2007 08:52 PM

oh man. no need to see them installed. you can tell how crappy they look already.

Gary in BR 09-12-2007 09:11 PM

I have this light but in red and another led tail light that looks more OEM, I prefer the other lights because they appear to be OEM. The OEM appearing lights are much brighter than these. But in contrast these are brighter than stock lights.

All of the LED lights the 3 in this style and the OEM look LED lights are all sold on ebay.

Feel free to ask questions and there are pictures of my lights on the links in my signatures.

chaudanova 09-12-2007 10:48 PM

sooo ricerish and ugly :barf:

djomlas 09-13-2007 05:52 AM

wow, where is the neon thread when you need it? these belong there

Chris_Craft 09-13-2007 07:33 AM

To deamber or not to deamber, that is the question i have been struggling with.
So what are the best replacements? LED? All red? Are the smoked lights nice? For side lights, are there "clear" and "crystal" side lights or are they "crystal clear".

FrayAdjacent 09-13-2007 07:40 AM

I think these look a bit better:

Those are the LEDs I have. I love them.
Very OEM look and they are very bright.
And easy to install.

I recommend these 100%

the oem marker lights are smoked. I suppose some of those on ebay are clear though.

ChrisZang 09-13-2007 03:52 PM

before you buy a "smoked" taillight on eBay ask the seller if the lights are DOT approved. I bought a set and the seller "forgot" to disclose this little fact to me :troll:

tkn 09-13-2007 04:18 PM

I like the 550 tail lights which are mostly red. I am against deambering the front cause the spattered omelet just looks bigger then.

Chris_Craft 09-13-2007 08:42 PM

Some more pics of these tails lights. I don't know but this black pic below looks cool.

djomlas 09-14-2007 07:22 AM

LED Tail Lights

Personally I think the chrome LED tail lights look awesome on an artic silver Boxster. Here's a pic I stole from somewhere (sorry I can't give a proper reference).

I would love to get these for my car (it's silver), but I've had trouble finding a reasonable price on them. They used to be on eBay for about $200. But the chrome ones aren't on there anymore. Now the best price I can find is $300. Not sure who they're made by, but FK Automotive distributes them in Germany and Mimousa distributes them in the US. If anyone knows where to get these at a better price in the US, please drop me a line.

Another pic of chrome LED tail lights on an artic silver boxster...

Back2DTM 09-14-2007 11:03 AM

If they looked good, i would have get them for free.
I am that ebay seller's supplier

djomlas 09-14-2007 12:21 PM

+1 on this notion. Those all look so nasty...all those 'altezza' style lights.. So ricer/fast&furious style... might as well get some neon undercarriage lights and led nozzles. haha

boggtown 09-14-2007 02:10 PM

See, even the supplier wont put them on his car. May I ask what else you supply, cause maybe we could buy stuff direct from you.

boggtown 09-14-2007 02:22 PM

Ask this guy if he wants to trade since hes selling his car anyway, maybe make his car sell faster with normal lights plus some pocket change, lol.

Wow, thanks Boggtown, I just sent this guy an e-mail to see if he would sell or trade them... :-P ....really

BTW, my wife loves the chrome LED lights too, but she's Chinese so she grew up loving rice. I've got a black carbon fiber hood on my Boxster... isn't that considered rice too. But I won't install a big wing, hmmmm, go figure. I guess whether someone considers something rice or not really doesn't matter to me. All I care about is whether or not I like it and whether or not I'm happy with it.

Yeah, hook us up man! I can't get the chrome LED lights on eBay. Option Racing doesn't sell them now, although they used to. Can you get them or explain why they're not available?

der Geist 09-14-2007 05:16 PM

I am with Fray and Gary in BR. About a month ago I had an unfortunate encounter with a dumpster smashing one of my rear tail lights. So rather than pay the close to $400.00 the dealer wanted I ordered the smoked LED's. They match the side markers and look very good in my opinion. Brighter too. As far as LED style lights being ricer......to each thier own.

These boxster LED tails are nonstock items for me.
I can do a stock check with Option for you.
I am not even allow to sell my products here, am I.
I don't wanna get in trouble :)

pteam 09-15-2007 09:57 PM

Der_geist,

The people on this thread arnt saying that all LED lights look ricer, I like LED lights, but the pictures earlier in this thread look very RICER, and ugly. The LEDs on the carrera GT look great, the OEM style LEDs with smoke in this thread look good too.

stevedias_uk 05-17-2008 06:13 AM

Has anyone got any Pics to post of the rear LED lights turned on and on the car? and at night (or is that just asking too much)?

I am undecided whether to upgrade my 986 Boxster's rear lights to LED Red/Clear or the standard Red/Clear ones.

Thanks

A5

Has anayone else had an A5 Audi come up behind them? The parking/accent lights, whatever they are in the front are awsome!
I don't know if they're on all the time like VW used to do with headlights, but both A5's I've seen had them turned on.
When you see one, you won't forget it.
