Airbag Deactivation Bar

Hi,

Has anyone tried to install this item? I have access to the Porsche reprogrammer (not sure what its exactly called). No sense paying the dealer for this procedure that apparently takes 20 minutes

Thanks,

Bill

If you don't care about the metal bar, you can just plug the wiring connector from the female receptacle into the plug under the passenger seat. IMO, the bar is of no use. It is supposed to allow you to strap a porsche child seat to the bar but I wound up using a different seat as soon as kid grew out of first one.

After wiring is connected, you will get airbag warning until you reprogram.

If you decide to use the bar, you need special longer seat bolts and a specific tool. The heads of the seat bolts are a male star pattern so you would need a female torx-like socket. I didn't have the right tool and messed up the heads on bolts.

The problem I am having is the current seat bolts do not fit through the holes on the bar. Let me guess, I need to purchase the special seat bolts from the dealership?

You need the bolts that are supposed to come with the bar.

Then you need to tell the air bag control unit that the bar is installed.
