bruised boxster

Unfortunately, I have some bad news (for me at least). A woman with a large pickup truck backed up at high speed and slammed into my 2000 boxster s. Luckily, I was not in it, it was in the parking lot of a local grocery store. The impact knocked it backwards nearly 20' (thank god there was noone behind me). It looks like at the very least I need a new front bumper and a hood. But I don't think there is any frame damage...the car still drives straight and true and the top lines up perfectly when I close it. There is a huge dent in the hood and it doesn't close all the way and the front bumper is pretty dented and torn up. The lady took off, but I at least got her plate number and the police are tracking her down.

Anyway, I need a little advice on what to look for with respect to the repair process. My insurance company (USAA) of course wants
their shop to do it but said i could choose anyone as long as I paid the difference over the appraised damages. I am worried about a non-Porsche shop doing the work, getting the parts in a reasonably quick fashion and, especially, matching the paint (rainforest green). Any tips on what to pay especially close attention to? Are there any things I really need to look out for? I appreciate any help you can offer. Thanks.

Where do you live? Maybe someone on the forum who lives in the same area can recommend a good body shop. As far as parts are concerned, Sunset Porsche is the cheapest around ( http://www.****************************************************.com/porscheatcost.htm ).

Sorry to hear. Who the hell backs up with enough force to move a car 20'? I hope you press charges to the extent of the law. Make sure your insurance co. gets the biotch's license plate number also. They will be "motivated" to track her down.

Now would be a good time to look into an Aerokit. :) And since you weren't in the car to get hurt, I guess there's a silver lining!

When I had my Sonja repaired by State Farm in June they asked where I wanted to take it - I answered the only dealer within 150 miles, that's where they will be buying the parts anyway. They said 'OK'. In prior experiences, they gave me recommendations for 3 shops where they would pay full price for the work.
