The notion that a Porsche dealer body shop will be the best pick is wrong in my opinion. I'd find the best indy shop in the area. Want to save money and get the best job? Yank everything you can, headlights, side marker lights, tail lights anything easy to remove is less taping and zero over spray on removed items. Lastly, look around, a key job like the one you detailed can be completely random but many times it's someone who is pissed off at you.

It could be totally random, or jealousy, usually it's personal.

I bought a 1997 993 turbo that had had a repaint. The receipts showed the cost was over $9000. There was no body work or color change and the job was done in 2000. They removed everything and did a top notch job. IMHO, you will get what you pay for.

Unless a lot of that was dis assembly / reassembly, it sounds a bit steep by CNY standards.

claim it. i was keyed too and spoke with the insurance company. since it was vandalism, it does NOT go against you on your record. your premium does NOT go up. so claim away! but they did say that if they notice an unusual about of claims, then they will have to review your account and possibly increase your premium. but in this case, i would think you should claim.
