JD Power Dependability Study

Hmmmmm. Porsche did not do so well in title rankings. Just below Chrysler. :ah:
Buick (!) and Lexus tie for first.

I'd rather wrench on a Porsche than drive a Buick. ;)

70Sixter, it's just the 2004 owners that have to worry :)

I'm afraid to comment. But seriously folks, SD got me thinking....wonder how far back they go for dependability surveys. I got an initial quality questionnaire immediately and a follow-up sometime ago. Maybe that follow-up was for an earlier dependability survey?

Porsche owners are a tough bunch to please. Makes you wonder how many were disgruntled at the expense involved in routine maintenance or minor repairs like resetting CELs.

JD Power Survey

JD Power's methods are suspect. They claim to have contacted 53,000 owners for the survey, but never say how many responded! I know that whenever I received one of their "surveys", I filed it in the circular file. Think about it ... Jaguar ranked in the top eleven ... BWAAAAAAAHAAAAAHAAAAAA! Typically, people who are not satisfied are more likely to respond than people who are satisfied. Plus, if they only receive two disgruntled surveys for a particular make ... Voila! we have a survey result. This is NOT a scientifically rigorous survey ... it is just junk-science, IMHO.

Mo' JD Powers Commentary

Here is a BusinessWeek take on the matter.

And maybe SD987 was correct about 04 986s! Apparently that was the year they used. Now I'm worried. Naahh, not really.

But apparently I contributed to the survey. So my input was offset by other pickier types.
