Decided on an Exhaust

After much deliberation I have decided to get the following eaxhaust for the Boxster. Its a new design Mille Miglia and I am assured that there is NO resonance at all in the cabin. The gases flow from the sides into the middle to a mixer box. The gasses then return back into the muffler which has perferated pipes and muffler packed with fibreglass then exist via S style tips. Following is a pic. It produces a claimed 12kw increase in power but I am scpetical about this, just like the look and the richer tonier Porsche sound that it produces.

I will get some pics and recording when it's on.

Be sure to compare the weights of the respective units also.

what is it costing you?

$1,600 AUS or about $1,300 US

I think JAAY on this board already has this exhaust, and he says there is some resonance on the muffler, but that it sounds great.

Hey Boxtaboy, from the pics I saw of JAAY's, it looks like he has the old Mille Milgia design which was a single muffler, not twins with a mixer box, but I could be wrong.....

PS The guy that makes them said he changed the design from a single straight thru to twin double pass mufflers to stop resonance, I guess I will find out when it's on. I told him I wanted NO resonance and he was that confident that he said he would remove it if there was resonance and give me my money back....

That's funny, cause it's usually the twin can type muffler designs on the 986 that causes the resonance, as the OEM unit is a single can design. Good luck with the install. The muffler looks nice, and since he's offering a money back guarantee, you've got nothing to lose.

Please keep us posted. I cannot stand any resonance at all.

Thanks BB,

If you open up the OEM muffler, you will see the gass flow follows a similar path to the one I'm getting, ie the gases do a bit of a loop. Most of the other twin designs are straight thru designs, this is what gives you resonance.

Hey Kouks, it's been 5 months...You get that thing installed yet?? Assuming so, what's the verdict on resonance? How's it sound generally? Still plan on posting a video/sound recording?
