CEL with p1124 and p1126 with rough idle

Hey Folks,

I have a CEL with p1124 and p1126 with inconsistent/rough idle.

I have cleaned MAF and replaced fuel filter.

I have had p1124 in the past couple years(3-4 times), cleaned the MAF and code cleared and does not return for 6-12 months.

I have white/grey smoke on startup and above 3k RPMs....this is a new symptom.

Any ideas on next steps?

two separate issues: time for a new maf and a new oil separator.

i had those as well, on a 98 with 62k, it was the MAF.
it got bad to the point where i couldn't even get the car out of the driveway.
after those i started getting 1128 and 1130, so MAF change fixed all 4 codes.

good luck

Dj,

with the MAF did you have a hrd time starting the car then after a while it would start up fro letting cooling down?

The car always starts fine. Just smoke and rough idle and of course error codes.

Insite and Franco,

You are saying the AOS because of the smoke?

HI, yes chances are the AOS is letting oil into the throttle housing, a quick verification you can do is to check for any oil around the throttle housing near the clamps and tubings located on top of engine. I would take care of the AOS first and then wait and see if you still get any codes, oil in th e throttle could set off a CEL.

Regarding the MAF, I changed mine and the car performs much better at all RPM's so if you have the cash change it and you won't regret it.
