What is this plug for ? / Hardtop question.

Hi,

I saw this plug behind the drivers seat ?

What is this ?

My guess is plug for the hardtop rear-window defrost, but thats just a guess ?

How do I check if my car has been prepared for hardtop ? I want one ...

djomlas 08-05-2007 10:37 AM

you are correct sir, thats for the rear defroster on the glass window on a hardtop

williamsF1 08-05-2007 11:52 AM

is that default on all boxsters ?

BTW. cool signature pic, but your background repeat photoshop job in the right side is not up to your regular standards !

It is standard on a US Boxster because the electric/heated mirrors are standard in the US. On ROW cars without the electric/heated mirrors that plug does not work because a switch on the dash is missing.

good eye, but believe it or not, thats how it looks like in the original pic as well.
i think it looks like that is couse i took it at a low angle and it was a really hot day, so u get those heat waves on top of the horizon, where the car is, so that may have something to do with it, i dunno .

How does that switch look like ?

And if I buy a hardtop can I get get the switch and the plug connected or is it mega-expensive !?

I have that button already - would that mean my car is ready to power the back window of the hard-top ?

Since you have the switch the plug will work.

Here is a ROW car without the switch.

Hmmm... how can I see if my car is prepared for a hardtop ? Do I need special parts installed in the car to be able to lock on the hardtop to my car ?

I have only owned the car for a few months so I dont know if it at one time had a Hardtop :)

djomlas 08-06-2007 06:16 AM

Check this post for information about the spin locks:

You can find installation instructions on this forum and Renntech.
