Hazy Headlight

My headlights are hazed over and I've tried polishing the exteriors. That helped a bit, but it looks like the haze may be inside. Is there a way to remove the litronic unit from the housing to polish the interior? Also, if I decide to just replace the housings, will I need Litronic specific ones or will the halogen housings work? Thanks

It's unlikely the inside is hazy, unless there is moisture in there. Polishing is a way of smoothing out a surface. Unless the inside somehow was abraded, you should not worry about that. If there is moisture in there, the whole light unit probably has a leak in it somewhere. If that is the case, you may need a new unit, or maybe try to seal the leak with silicone, keeping in mind that would seal any moisture already in the unit.
Depending on the age of the headlight and any "road rash" it has seen, it could just be it needs more polishing. I've used a few things to polish the headlights on my A4 with varying levels of success. FWIW, my lights had 190K miles on them last time I did it.

plast-x from meguiars works wonders on clear plastic headlights.

What I've done on mine is use the meguiars. treat it like wax put it on there and let is sit then re-apply new paste over the dry stuff then buff. They will come out smooth and clear. By the way if your haze appears to be inside the seal for the unit breach and sooner or later it will need to be replace. I recommend you investigate whether that is the case.

HI, I have the same haze on the headlights and it's on the inside, at first i thought it was a defect in the plastic but it could be dirt or moisture. They look like crap and and it's embarrassing when driving at night. A while back someone had posted how he opened them up in a oven but can't seem to pin point the post.

Help!
